I'm really liking the title - it was always my favourite of the remaining Fleming options.
I think they're (and we're) lucky - the title is not only dark and brooding, as many have mentioned, but I really like the theme of Bond seeking 'closure' for his relationship with Vesper, or 'some comfort' from his revenge. I think it holds a poignant depth to the film that I feared would disappear after CR, so its really nice to see it within even the title.
They're definitely staying edgy with the whole reboot scenario. They had to know that this title would be just as tough to love and hard to sell as Daniel Craig, so I like that they have the balls to keep going with it.

I'm with Sir Hillary Bray on this one. I think they have a great title with QOS and can't wait until November. Whatever they called the movie I would love it, but now they have wetted our apetites where is that poster artwork and who is going to sing the title song!

Strangely, I've had The Bass singing The Liquidator in my head all day. Just think of the way she belts out the end few notes - "Quantum. OF. SOL. AAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCEEEEE." It could work.

I like this title. Sure it is not as Bondian as most, but I praise that fact that it is different. TND and DAD had contrived titles. I'll take any title that does not have the words "Die" or "Kill" in it. I am glad it is a Fleming title again. I like how they are still finding a way to fit the 007 into the title logo.
Yes, it will be interesting to see how it is fit into the dialogue, if it is. The song will surely not be named after the title. However, the title's meaning does sound like it can provide good inspiration for a song. I hope a woman sings it this time. Aside from Tom Jones, I'm not too keen on male singers for Bond songs, unless they are in bands.
I've knocked QoS before, but what the hell -- I trusted the filmmakers for CR and they didn't disappoint, I'll trust them this time, too; that's means I'll assume the title will reflect the story, at least to a good degree. At least it suggests that the film will look into Bond's head a little more, which is an idea that I like.
I couldn't be happier that they chose "Quantum of Solace." I have been pulling for it all the way. I think it rolls off the tongue beautifully. This is one of the best titles in the past two decades.
That said, I agree with Sir Hilly that I would be just as excited to flock to "Bond-O-Rama" this November...

) Much the same as the one on John Barry's when Cubby told him "Octopussy"! For that one, Barry told his lyricist Tim Rice to come up with about six different titles and the execs would plump for their favourite- "All Time High" in that case. Probably Arnold will take the same route.
(Or maybe he'll go down the road JB chose with OHMSS: faced with an amelodic title, he used a line from the novel- "We Have All The Time In The World"- to come up with a classic song. Perhaps "Won't You Give Me Anything At All"?)
I think the title is perfect and in keeping with the revenge theme which is supposed to be a carry over from the last movie...and it has a Fleming origin. Simply brilliant!!!!!!

I think that the title is great and it has a profoundness about it, like Bond is going to go through some heavy stuff in the film, but I think that for non-Bond fans it might be random and 'out-of-no-where' since I tihnk everyone was used to the titles that had 'Die' and 'Gold' in them as someone had mentioned. But it's an A+ for me! {[] -{ :007)
good title. i love it. very dark and brooding. perfect to continue from CR. i think they will have a slow sad song for it. at first i thot 'property of a lady' would be a nice title. something like bond unearthing more things and info on vesper's past. can't wait for nov.

A few days ago people were talking about how they don't want some Fleming title slapped on the movie and 'shoehorned' into the script. Now that Eon is doing that very thing, if someone happens to not like it, you automatically lump them into some group? Thanks for sharing the love, man. 8-)

Like some others, I do wonder how the title will float with the general public; at least it's not Gigli though quirky titles caught on often enough. Maybe "quantum" and "solace" are fancy sounding enough to cull people into embracing the title as a way of making a statement of "yeah, I get it, don't you?" But then again, it may come off just as benign as "Devil May Care" (which I like too, because similarly...) As a fan of the books, QoS appeals to me very much and I do think it sounds cool, especially when I imagine Fleming's thought process. Would that actually be some conceit or snobbery as a Bond afficionado? For certain though I'm being a hypocrite at some level, since QoS is my least favorite Fleming story.
As for the story line, I think there is a natural connection with the continuation of CR, since QoS the story had to do with escalating bitter feelings within a relationship and "getting over it," (I suppose similar to "The Breakup" in today's context) and so it seems the same as the redemption factor that would ultimately be Bond's mission in the movie, to find closure over Vesper's betrayal. Kind of predictable, yes, but a fitting title for the expected theme and plot.

I would say that on the other forums I visit the general consensus is a bit "meh" and I must admit to feeling fairly neutral about it myself.
It only shakily passes the Bassey test (in that you can imaging La Bassey warbling the title away over a grandiose backing), but I imagine a similar Octopussy/All Time High, TSWLM/Nobody Does it Better, Casino Royale/You Know My Name type title track. I would predict no instrumental version either ...
I like it, its different, classy and Fleming. Also as already has been pointed out it does not contain the word Die.
I think Bond movies are largely title proof. No one is not going to see it just because they don't understand the title. Lets face it if you can get away with Octopussy you can get away with anything. They could call it Bond 22 or James Bond Kicks The S*@t Out Of Dominic Greene (I would love to hear the title song for that one)and they would still be queing around the block.
Mind you I think some people will struggle with it, my teenage son can't get his head around it. I can just hear the conversations in November 'I'm of to see er Quarter of Solids er Quantas of Airlines er oh sod it the new James Bond Movie'.
