I was quite happy with the extras on the SkyFall blu-ray. The making-of was pretty good, and best of all there were audio commentaries! It always irked me that QoS was the only Bond film not to have an audio commentary on the disc (despite rumours that Marc Forster did record one.) Now that Spectre has become the second one, I am even more unhappy. :#

The commentaries are usually my favourite extra. Real need central stuff. Mind you watched it for the first time at home last weekend and was bored by a lot it. It'll be a long time until I watch it again. Now where is my OHMSS Blue Ray?

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised by the features on the Skyfall BluRay.

Commentaries beat anything else, most making-of films aren't as interesting these days!

I too love the commentary, not just to hear the how and why but so I can
point out where they went wrong ! :D

Just a quick word on streaming services. Last night I watched Moonraker, with Octopussy this
Morning, and am really impressed with the quality 720HD. I was in the kitchen, the rest of the
Family in the living room watching some " Chick Flick "

One of the big video chains is going out of business (Movie Stop) and I scored a pristine used (not even a fingerprint on the disc and perfect packaging) Bluray of TLD for a whopping $2.49 :) . They had a few other Bond titles on Bluray both new and used at 40% to 70% off the lowest already discounted price. -{ Unfortunately nothing I didn't already have or need.

I agree with Silhouette Man that Eon has really dropped the ball in terms of extras on the last three films. You would think that for a series that has been successful and profitable for over 50 years they would do a better job with the extras. Still other movies produced by Sony have taking time to get proper extras on DVD and Blu Ray (Stripes and Ghostbusters II for example) so I am confident that QOS, SF and SP will get their due in time.

Yeah but it's the kind of thing they don't include close to release - so you have a reason to buy the new box set in 10 years time.

I was trying to watch some special features on the TND blu ray and most of them were presented in a tiny frame in the upper left corner of my TV. The only feature that DID work was Samantha Bond's exotic locations documentary.

Here's a photo of my TV and the tiny image. Any ideas on what happened here?

I have to check out the TND special features myself and see what it does on my TV. I have never ran across anything like this before, intresting!

If anyone is interested, Google play movies has an offer on at the moment , if you're
A Chromecast user of 50% off a movie purchase. It works for "collections" as well.
As I bought the DC Bond collection CR, QOS, SF and Spectre in HD for only £17.50. :)

The extras don't generally appeal to me -- I couldn't care less about most of the "making of" stuff. But I do like deleted scenes.

However, let me just say the blu-rays are STUNNING in audio and visual quality. My mother, who saw the Connery films in the theater, has said for years that what I see on video does not do the films justice. If these blu-rays are any indication, I see now what she's talking about. The images are more crisp than I've ever seen before, and they just pop beautifully. Perhaps the most telling in this regard are the films from the early 1970s. This is the period when cinematography in general got more dour, and the color pallettes of dull greens, grays, and browns became a part of decor and fashion. But the Bond films off this period on blu-ray are a whole new experience. The color is warm and delightful -- not quite 1960s quality, but so much more than on DVD or VHS.

The aspect rations allow more image on screen, too. New films are all close ups with the occasional long shot, but the Bond films up to the early 1980s are wonderfully blocked and stages -- and the blu-rays show this the best. I had a moment of delight when I saw Bond, for instance, photographing Blofeld's map in OHMSS and then saw the villain enter in the extreme corner of the shot to take aim at Bond. What great composition.

It really is discovering the Bond films all over again and seeing how they set the standard for decades. The newer films don't impress me as much -- there's just so much less going on onscreen, with the exception, perhaps, of Casino Royale. But the classic Bond films have benefited greatly from the blu-ray format -- it's not just another money grab.

The extras get worse as the movies go on. The Connery extras were great, You Only Live Twice stands out to me as having particularly strong extras in it's home video releases, but modern Craig films struggle to put together even a paltry set of extras. Of course, given that we know more about a movie as it is filming, one could argue extras are less important or needed as they used to be.

The DN-LTK (Cork/Scivally) making of docos are top notch, after that, they're mostly studio presented drivel.

Watching CR and I'm filled with the old pangs of guilt......... For years OHMSS was my clear
Favourite Bond film. Then along comes CR -{ and I feel almost "unfaithful" to OHMSS by
    Loving it so much .
I guess I'll have to have two favourite Bonds. :)) I regard both films so highly, not just because
Of Bond, but as I think they can stand alone as simply great movies. I can rewatch then many
Times and still keep finding new things to enjoy.

Please I need some advice from the very knowledgeable folks on this forum as to which Bond blu ray to buy. I can't afford to buy a boxed set of the blu rays releases, and am looking at buying one, two or three a month depending on cost.

I live in the uk and the descriptions of the films on amazon is confusing. There's a 2013 blu ray and a 2015 blu ray.

Some versions of Casino Royale apparently have an edited torture scene, whereas the double deluxe release is complete, is that correct?

I need help to be pointed in the right direction please.

I have the Ultimate DVD boxed set, which are all double discs.

Are all those extras included in both of the blu ray releases?

Many of the 2013 Blu Rays are available for less than £5, Dr No I think I can buy for about £4.50, but I don't want to buy it if it's the wrong option. There's another blu ray release for £9.99

Any advice would be most welcome. Many thanks.

Tonight I watched FYEO and LTK on Google movies and I'm really impressed
with the HD content. The colours are really punchy, but not over done, with
terrific detail. So I'm really pleased with my purchase. :)

Watching LALD tonight, I only heard for the first time as Felix tries to smooth
things over with Mr Bleeker after Bond took the wings off. You can clearly hear
" Son of a Bitch" over the phone. Either I've got better speakers or I've simply
    never heard it before :))

I only saw the Bond films on Blu-ray when the BOND 50 box arrived in 2012. So 2013 saw me watching all of them in HD for the first time.

A year ago I got a new TV set, a 4K, 65" Samsung curved TV plus a 4K Samsung Blu-ray player which up converts Blu-rays to 4K resolution. It also features "True Colour" which is a software that makes the colours be breathtakingly beautiful.

Both times it was like discovering the Bond films anew. I can only recommend it.

I also watched Goldfinger in 3D one time as the TV can convert 2D into 3D and it actually works quite well. It worked with Goldfinger but I realised it's nothing I would want to do regularly after I tried it out with QOS :))

Here some pics I took while the films were running. I need to mention that seeing it for real is much better even.

Im guessing 4K releases are practically prep'd and ready to go judging most of them been shown in theatres!

Then again it will prob take an eternity for EON to release them like the blu rays
