Qos bond would have just stuck one between his eyes or at the very least given him a slap. I think it's easy to drop Blofeld after Spectre, the blokes locked up, it's harder to drop spectre as it would still function, it is after all an international organisation, I don't think all the other members would simply pack up and go home. I don't want Blofeld escaping but let's remember here in the UK he would be out in 3 months for good behaviour. Seriously though I'd rather not be stuck having to have continuity between every film but I think that is now expected.

There is very limited continuity in the Bond series, and continuity shouldn't be held as gospel, either. The fact that Bond is a rookie agent in CR/QOS and then an ageing agent in SF just goes to show that continuity doesn't need to be adhered to be able to get a cracking Bond film in a subsequent entry. OHMSS threw a spanner in the works with continuity and it still is hailed as one of the best.

    So to hell with timelines.

To hell and be damned! :)
Bond got on quite well without Blofeld, I was quite happy with Roger Moore dropping him down a chimney. Should Blofeld have stayed in the 60/70's with Sean connery?

I don't think Mendes got the script he wanted for Spectre. I'm not sure his would have been any better, however. Maybe just bad in different ways.

Sf and SP have great elements, I don't think anyone got the SP script they really wanted.

I believe the entire concept grew out of Mendes' desire to explore the forcing-a-bird-out-of-its-nest idea. I don't know who's idea it was to combine Oberhauser and Blofeld, but it seems like Mendes was there from the beginning, and thus I think he got the SPECTRE script he wanted.

It seemed like they finally had a handle on James Bond again, delivering an impeccable Bond film in SF, but while SPECTRE had it's moments, core character and story mishandling demonstrates that they might have just been lucky with the predecessor. The fact that Purvis and Wade came in much later to add more Bondian tropes makes me think that had they had a hand in the development of SPECTRE from the get go, as opposed to refining Logan's (and Mendes' script), I think they would have put a stop to it immediately.

The idea that Blofeld and Bond were foster brothers was Purvis and Wade's idea and introduced quite late.

The "it would appear..." seems like it was simply someone's interpretation, not to mention the entire "everything is connected" angle is said to have been there from the beginning of the film. Having read the leaked emails, there was much deliberation over whether audiences would buy that Blofeld would be the way he is because of his brother (which was accurate, no one buys it, but nothing was done about it), and the leaked emails happened prior to Purvis and Wade joining. Not to mention Mendes' interview, which I mentioned above.

Seems little progress has been made on the distribution deal.

The biggest question, of course, is the James Bond series, Sony’s rights to which have expired. Rothman flatly declined to describe the studio’s posture toward Bond, saying that discussion would be premature. But it is clear that Sony, having prospered in partnership with Eon Productions, MGM and others with films like Skyfall and Spectre, will join the bidding for the next round of Bonds and likely will point to its Wanda alliance as an example of new strength it can bring to the table. - Deadline

Everyone seems to be sitting back and waiting to see if Craig returns. The other factor may be MGM's alleged willingness / ability to distribute the Bond films themselves unless they can get the right deal from another studio.

A subjective opinion is not fact, you may prefer Daniel Craig to Sean connery but that does make him better. Dc may well do one more but I don't think he even knows for sure. Daniel Craig is my favourite actor but I don't place him over and above any other bond actor. There are aspects of every bond and every film I love, but to downgrade connery is a naive thing to do. He's the original and therefore all that come after there because of him.

I agree, Connery is the "origin of the species" -{ and I rate Both Craig and Dalton
Very highly too. Although I still enjoy the others -{ love a bit of Sir Roger's innuendo ;)

Agree with you, Connery, Dalton and Craig made the best films for me, give or take 1 or 2 of Connery's weaker later efforts. I do like Rogers films as well, very entertaining, especially if you switch your brain off and don't take them too seriously.

What will be the first actual information we get about the next Bond movie? Director? Danial Craig stays/goes? Writers?
And when can we hope to find this out?

I would think news about the main actor would be first, ie Daniel Craig begins shooting on bond 25, or Tom Hiddleston confirmed as new James bond, then I would think there will be some grainy photos taken of them filming a scene before a full press announcement giving us the title.

A press conference would be held to make any announcement prior to any shooting. If Craig is to return there could be a press release prior to the official news conference. If there is to be a new Bond actor, my guess is that everything would officially be announced at a press conference. Of course who knows what could be leaked prior to any official announcement. These days, anything is possible.

I sure hope we'll get that press conference this year. I have a feeling that might still take a lot longer than that though... :(

I imagine Craig's resignation/commitment to Bond 25 will be made months before a press conference. SPECTRE's announcement was was during rehearsals, just prior to shooting. Pierce Brosnan announced his resignation from the role the year before Craig was cast.

I like all the bonds .
Roger Moore was bond when i was a ten year old and i think to this day he was really good he was of his time .
Sean was obviously the original but i think Daniel Craig has took the films another direction.
I think dan in my opinion is now no 1

My understanding is (and i may be wrong ) brosnan didn't resign he wanted to do more but when the opportunity to do casino royale came along he was dropped because the producer's needed a younger actor ?
