I’m going to put this out there, I think Scotland doubles for Norway. The style of the castle definitely looks like it can easily double for Norway and we’d be right to think Scotland is Scotland after Skyfalls prominent use of Scotland but I think it’ll be Norway shots being filmed in Scotland.

I just don’t see them going to the effort with the Atlantic road and double it as Scotland. Baring in mind Norway was revealed as a location at “the launch” at Goldeneye but no mention of Scotland.

Also, if it is the same Jeep as in the Atlantic road scenes, why would there be foreign plated cars engaging in a car chase in rural Scotland?

    Just my thoughts but also a gut feeling -{

I really can't see how Bond25 can be DC's last film. If it is the Shatterhand Castle transposed to Norway and Malek is an actual Dr Shatterhand, and that character is not an alias for Blofeld, who is in an MI6 prison, then we're looking at YOLT and a brainwashed Bond at some point and with the rumours about a plot where Bond dies or, like the FRWL novel, Bond's situation at the end is unclear, then there has to be a Bond26 for DC and he is going out with a Blofeld trilogy, and they're retconning Spectre with Bond25 to make it work.

For a while, I have been wondering if EON isn't misleading us, even more than it usually does to protect plot points. This whole "not having a title" thing doesn't strike me as Babs and Michael dithering for months, group testing ideas. I believe they have a title and have had one for a while but for some reason revealing it will give the game away. Think of it this way: if EON announces the title really is "Eclipse" or whatever, the sense of anticlimax will only worsen the negative atmosphere the tabs are trying to conjure around this movie.

And I've mentioned before how every new tidbit seems to suggest the story is sprawling beyond the initial synopsis.

That said, what do I know?

I've suspected this since we first heard of filming in Scotland. The Atlantic Sea Road simply didn't fit into the context of the other locations, but it can fit fairly well with locations in Scotland. The frozen lake may very well end up as "Austria", so ….. :#

    Well, the synopsis is
Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

So, what we know, so far, is, the synopsis only covers events, very broadly, from the first Act to about half way through the second Act. Essentially the latter half of the film is this 'trail of a mysterious villain,' and that could involve anything. But, so far it seems to be Bond returning to London and going to Norway. Seems a bit simplistic for a trail but...

Casino Royale's second half had Bond go to a Montanegran Casino, but then he also goes to Venice.
Quantum has Bond go to Bolivia with Mathis, and is there for the rest of the film, bar a brief appearance in Russia.
Skyfall has Bond return to London and he stays in the UK.
Spectre sent Bond to Tangiers and then London.

That would suggest that there is a missing final location for Bond25...

Daniel Kleinman: “I have started having ideas for Bond 25, and met with Cary Fukunaga who is a very nice, talented man. It’s very early days for my process. There is no title or song as yet, but I’m already excited to be thinking about visuals for the main titles.”

Kleinman could have been instructed by the producers to deny that there is a title. I can believe there is no theme song at this time.

They might not have told him that there is a title. Section 26, paragraph 5. Need-to-know. Sure you understand.

I've been thinking about clapperboard scene 139, when Bond arrives in Whitehall, and then clapperboard scene 155, at Hammersmith bridge. Sixteen scenes between them.

I've estimated before (https://www.ajb007.co.uk/post/954169/#p954169) that an average Bond25 scene is 42 seconds long.

    So, with 672 seconds, or 11 minutes 12 seconds, of DC in London between scenes 139 and 155, I think there is time;

For Bond to arrive in Whitehall from Cuba/Jamaica (less than 30 seconds)
    Talk to Moneypenny (1 minute)
    Meeting with M (1 minute)
    Visit Q (1.5 minutes)
    Meet with Madeleine (2.5 minutes)
    Visit Blofeld (2 minutes)
Another meeting with Madeleine where they agree to work together (1 minute)
Meet M and Tanner near Hammersmith bridge (1 minute)
Leave for Norway with Madeleine (less than 30 seconds)

Casino Royale's Bond/M scene in the Bahamas that links the two halves of the film together is just under 4 minutes long. I think Bond25 will have more moving plot parts to stitch together, hence 11 minutes.

you know gang, I only get a chance to participate here once a week, and trying to sift through these last few pages to find actual Bond25 discussion has not been pleasant.

one nugget upthread that caught my eye:
there was some rumour of a Scottish castle location and speculation what could happen there? did that ever get answered?
Remember, the reason we got the hollowed out volcano in You Only Live Twice is because the location scout realised there are no castles on the Japanese coast as Fleming had described.
Maybe if they're filming at a castle in another country, that's a hopeful clue they could indeed be doing the Dr Shatterhand Garden of Death plot?

Scotland is doubling for Norway. We have no idea if that Scottish castle is going to be in the movie, pretending to be a Norwegian castle. All we know for sure is that the same vehicles seen on the Atlantic road in Norway have been filmed driving in Scotland, near the castle. It looks like the kidnapped scientist and the terrifying genetic technology is going to be found in Norway. Genetic technology could certainly be for a garden of death. If we're going to get lots of nods to Moore films (Lashana's outfit being one) then maybe there's an Orchid involved?

There are no Castles in Norway that look remotely like the one in Scotland, but I guess most of the cinema-going audience in the world don't know that. I'm suspecting more and more it's the other way 'round: The Atlantic sea road is doubling for Scotland.

    I don't blame you Someone!
Your ability to do the research and tie all the clues together into a hypothetical plot is truly impressive.

As to my issues with the tone of the last couple of pages, Barbel has told us elsewhere he is avoiding this thread because he personally wants to avoid spoilers. So please all, no running round with scissors just because we're unsupervised!

    Yes, they do.

They do. at least some of them. But how much does it matter? Will the plates feauture clearly in the movie and will the average audience member know or care? Were Norwegian plates used for practical reasons? The police had to escort the cars that had other plates.

I think you're overthinking this a touch. If the scene were meant to take place in Scotland the cars would have Scottish plates. This isn't a low budge movie here.

I probably and hopefully am. But I stil think the Atlantic Sea Road location seems not to be able to stand alone (driving on a bridge in Norway with no other scenes in the country that we know of other than one scene in a very different season and landscape) and not fitting any other location country other than possibly Scotland.

There was an article in today's Philadelphia Inquirer ( a real legit newspaper) written by the paper's film critic. Unfortunately (and surprisingly) the article stated (like it was fact and not just a Brit Tab rumor) that Lynch was going to be the new 007 and of course nauseatingly went on with the usual nonsense and drivel about the Bond films and Bond being done for and how they should reboot the series with Lynch. Of course this nimrod film critic seems to miss the whole point that whether or not Lynch has been given the 007 number.... she is still not James Bond. He also completely ignores the fact that James Bond films, especially the Craig films, have made tons of money...even the relatively mediocre QOS and Spectre. He also goes as far to interpret Craig's "I'd rather slash my wrists" comment as Craig believing the series is done for (anybody with a bit of sense would understand that is not what he meant). The critic also goes on to recap Bond 25's difficult pre-production history to support how Bond should be "finished". It just seems like every time these days that there is a Bond film in production there is this chorus of critics who drone on about how Bond is no longer relevant, should be another gender, species, or from another planet or EON should just shut things down, stop making millions and deny millions of people around the world the entertainment and joy they derive from escaping for 2 1/2 hrs into the universe of the most iconic and loved film character. To these self anointed arbiters of taste, culture and art......I say a hearty "Bugger off". We were there in '62 and we will be there in 2020. When we don't like it, we will let them them know and if they don't get the message we will stop coming and that's when they will know it's time.

Long before the internet, newspaper writers were trolling people. This one’s not worth our time.

I still trust EON’s strategy here. The “black female 007” generated massive press. The concept will be used in the film to address Bond’s place in the modern world. But at the end of the day — and I am willing to bet anyone who cares to wager — Lynch’s character dies or otherwise relinquishes 007 to James Bond. The next Bond after Craig will be a white British man. This is a three-dimensional chess move.

Can this Lashana 007 debate have it's own thread? It can't be called a spoiler now with the mass coverage and I think there is enough interest in it to justify its own thread.

There's already an old thread on the topic of a black James Bond.

    https://ajb007.co.uk/topic/34278/black-james-bond/

Granted, that thread didn't address the idea of Bond being black AND female. But, personally, I'm not sure the topic warrants a new thread since it's basically just the same arguments for and against being repeated.

It’s definitely not a spoiler at this point, but it is part of the discussion of Bond 25. I’m bored with it as well, but I think it’s fair game for a Bond 25 thread.

I really hope that can be done.

I created this thread to discuss spoiler news and I think the Lashana 007 debate has gone beyond that and another person needs to create a thread for Lashana/Nomi-007.

    Anyone out there, feel free.

On a tangential point, I agree with the comments made on the latest James Bond and Friends podcast that EON has dug themselves a PR hole with Nomi-007 and bringing back Waltz/Blofeld because there are no easy ways to have Bond regain his 007 codename without accusations of misogyny (in a single film - I think Bond26 could address that appropriately as a sequel to B25) and the amount of time given to the two Oscar winners, Malek and Waltz, could see accusations of another lacklustre presence by Blofeld and/or an inadequate amount of screen time for North African Malek...

I just want to emphasise, I am commenting on how Bond regains his codename, 007. I am not commenting on why or whether other characters have that codename, that is the debate that needs to go to another thread. I am making spoilerish speculation on how Bond regains his codename.

Let me repeat that, I am not commenting on why or whether other characters have that codename, that is the debate that needs to go to another thread.

But if the rumour is true it's a major spoiler, so the discussion can't be moved to the regular B25 thread. if the discussion continues it should get a new tread or the Black Bond threead can incorporate this issue.

Plus, we don’t need the umteenth thread on B25. It‘s already as confusing as it gets...

I didn't think this through. Obviously the Lynch as 007 has been all over the news by now and it's hardly a spoiler. Movie it to the reguar B25 thread or the black Bond thread (not completely the same issue, but clsoe enough), because AugustWalker is right about the number of B25 threads.
