Norway has ordered five frigates from the UK, and obviously there are discussions about what the warships should be named. An officer suggested:

    • «Boaty McBoatface» (flag ship)
    • «Floaty McFrigatface»
    • «Shooty McGunface»
    • « Splashy McSonarface»
    • «Oops McGrounding»

I don't see how this can be bettered. I welcome the Boaty MacBoutface class.😁

I was going to call myself "Bondy McBondface" when I joined up here but sadly it was already taken.

I watch a London's Burning themed podcast on YouTube. It's not a podcast in the traditional sense. Two people in the same room with a mike setup, it's more of a Q&A.

We'll be getting an interview with Mark Spalding soon. Wonder if Tomorrow Never Dies will get a mention.

Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

Great aviation video by Sam Chui highlighting the extraordinary service the World Food Program (WPF) and the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) perform in delivering food to desolate parts of the world.

    Excellent video.

This doesn't happen every day outside the royal castle in Oslo:

I hope that the royal family didn't take the hump?

Getting the royal family sucessfully through 2026 will be harder than getting a camel through the eye of the needle.

Anyone who wants to live in a place with a Bond connection should consider these two locations…

Canada, eh? AJB has a man there, but I don’t think he lives at that place....

  • Sir MilesSir Miles The Wrong Side Of The WardrobePosts: 30,910Chief of Staff

Yea…that’s a fair way from me…tried to look those places up online, but you have to register to look at the properties…

Explaining life in 2026 to a man in 18th century London:

"Sir, the modern Metropolis is a place where a man carries his entire library, his correspondence, and his very purse within a single sliver of glass and sorcery. To have such a device purloined by some fleet-footed scoundrel is not merely to lose a possession, but to suffer a sudden amputation of the intellect. He who saunters down Fleet Street with his soul clutched carelessly in his hand invites the rogue to prove that, while information may be universal, its physical vessel is lamentably portable." 😃

Apparently there is talk of new bank notes in the UK, removing Churchill and Austen etc. and replacing with animals. It’s a bad idea and the bank notes should always have someone special concerning British history. My suggestion is…

In that case the Beatles would be an obvious choice.

Mr Ian Fleming's grandfather and uncle were both bankers at Robert Fleming & Co.

Imagine if Mr Ian Fleming had created a James Bond bank. We might have had a Bond currency in an alternate universe.

    ------------

'How much for this bow tie please?'

'That would be 53 Bonds and 29 Spectres...'

    'Golly...that's expensive.'

'Do you have anything cheaper than that?'

    'No Sir, we don't.'

  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 41,870Chief of Staff

"...but I can let you have it for 53 Bonds, 49 Bournes and 100 Matt Helms".
