Did anyone ever ID the other watches in Casino Royale? I'm curious about the dealer's watch:

    And Le Chiffre's watch:

When I first read through that Omega CR Edition catalogue it really made me wonder why Omega would’ve used a photo of Le Chiffre that displays his watch when it’s not one of theirs — and that was when I found out both companies are owned by the Swatch Group. Anyway it’s a nice watch.

Just found out my Sub-C ("No Date") will be arriving on Tuesday. I am so excited. I debated a long time about what watch to get but at the end I knew that I had to go with the Sub.

I thought about picking up the Spectre watch but I just could not justify the price at all. It's basically the same watch as the standard model and it sells for twice as much.

Explorer I probably came in second place (the newest version). It's about a grand cheaper than the Sub but at the end of the day I thought I'd regret getting it. It's a simple time only piece and I feel the No-Date Sub gives a similar clean aesthetic while being more durable and having the very useful timing bezel.

Thought about being crazy and going with the Milgauss GV but I think that watch is best saved for when I have a larger collection.

I think this will be a great compliment to my Speedy.

I finally have my "Bond" watch. I did own the PO XL for a bit, Casino Royale model, but it was just too big and I didn't like it enough to buy the 42mm version. Doesn't come close to the Sub's quality imo.

Will post pics when it's in.

Same same.. But different. More or less. They are indeed similar at first glance.

12 hour scale on bezel. Bidirectional bezel as opposed to the unidirectional bezel of the standard one. 12 numeral replaced by larger Omega logo. Lollipop seconds hand. Comes with a brushed stainless steel bracelet as opposed to the polished center links of the standard one.

Speaking of which, it's one of the few Omega's that holds it's value in the preowned market today. Some like you have seen selling beyond it's retail price. If I can ever find it at a good price, i'd probably go for it. Otherwise, i'd probably get the standard one and have the bracelet brushed.

My main point of contention is that the fit and finish are basically the same and it uses the same movement, albeit the movements are decorated differently. I definitely prefer the brushed bracelet that comes with the Spectre model though.

12 hour scale isn't exactly my cup of tea. It's like a baby GMT. I love the lollipop seconds hand though. Not the biggest fan of the giant Omega logo.

If I had to mix and match then I would go with the Standard model, with a lollipop seconds hand, 007 movement finishing, and the brushed bracelet of the Spectre model. One thing I can appreciate about both models is the independent hour hand function. That would be extremely useful for anyone that travels. I kind of wish every watch had that function.

I'm curious to see how the watch's value will hold up once Bond gets his newest watch in the next movie. Hope they don't chuck Craig with the newest wave dial Seamasters. I'm not a fan of them at all. Maybe they will make a whole new model for the movie to capitalize off of the Spectre success or just modify an existing one?

Omega just doesn't grab me like they used to. Too much trendyness and their overuse of faux patina is getting old. I was actually pretty tempted by the trilogy series of watches they came out with but I couldn't get over the overly thick movements and liberal use of faux patina.

I'm so happy to own the Speedy Professional though. That's the model to own with Omega. If I had to get a Bond Omega, then the original Brosnan Bond mechanical version would be my choice. Simply a classic in my book. The 38.5mm Skyfall Aqua Terra is quite the watch as well. Honestly, probably the best fitting watch on my wrist that I have tried on.

I agree about the state Omega is in at the moment. It hasn't been the same since the new CEO took over. Too trendy and they're trying too hard to be hip to appeal to younger buyers maybe.

These are the two Omega's that I have. Not exactly the Brosnan Bond or the Skyfall AT, but the Craig Casino Royale SMP and the Spectre AT.

I thought this Tag Heuer Manchester United limited edition looked pretty cool.
I wore a Tag chronograph for about 15 years before I got my Omega and was very happy with it.

Yes a few years back (actually more like 10) I had both Bond Omega and the black faced version. But I used the black as my beater in the military and really struggled at times to turn the bezel especially wearing gloves. So I took the drastic action of customising it with a PO bezel from the 42mm P.O. (they are a strigh swap). I liked it so much I wanted a blue faced P.O. so I did the same with an electric blue SMP (but had to use an aftermarket bezel insert) then Omega went and released the P.O. TI 8500! (Typical).

Both sadly gone now to fund my Black PO 8500 Ti project last year.

Here is the electric blue as well

Few initial pics as promised. Best fitting watch I've ever owned on a bracelet. So comfortable and perfectly tapered. The "fat lugs" are quite different in person vs photos. It was one thing I could never get along with on this model but it's a case of you got to see and try it on person to judge.

Perfect combination of elegance and sporty, well at least for me as I prefer sports watches. 40mm in size but wears bigger for sure. Already had a few people comment that it fits my wrist perfectly. Coming from bigger watches, I'm very happy with the size. It's pretty thin for a diver watch and I love that. It's not so thin that it feels dainty, yet not too thick that it becomes burdensome.

The white gold and platinum make a big difference. I wouldn't have thought so initially; however, the shine on the white gold can't be matched by stainless steel. The platinum on the bezel makes it so legible and also makes the watch simply look like a quality and expensive timepiece. Many other ceramic bezels have an almost muted tone to the numbers and even quite grey. Here the numbers pop and are legible even in the lowest lighting.

I'm used to more matte black dials and here the dial is like an inkwell. The blackest dial I've ever seen. That can be hit or miss depending on the person. It certainly isn't as "dynamic" as other dials that change a lot based on the lighting. It does change a bit but keeps true to its character and look.

Bezel action is the best I've used though I will say it is certainly built with diving in mind. The bezel is made with precision as its focus so it will not be as easy to quickly turn as a cheaper bezel or one with 60 clicks but it has almost zero play.

Finishing is simple, yet fantastic at the same time. Never seen better brushed finishing in my life. It doesn't try to be over the top with its finishing like an AP Royal Oak and is much more utilitarian.

One interesting point is how silent the movement is. I compared my other watches at various distances and the Rolex is by far the most silent. Put it up to your ear and you'll hear the movement and then start moving it away and you can't tell it's even there.

Really enjoying the watch so far. Is it worth the money? That is up to the individual person. You are paying a ton of money for minor improvements here and there. It all comes together to create a complete package and separate itself from the pack but asking price is still steep. As a watch enthusiast, I appreciate the tiny details and this watch has those in abundance.

The lack of the date cyclops really gives this watch a clean and simple look and I think adds a bit of elegance to it. While I see this watch as the original Bond watch, it really is its own thing. A product of decades of evolution.

I never thought I'd say this but wearing this you feel like you never need another watch. It does what you need and looks damn good doing it. I can see myself wearing this with anything and it will blend right in with the outfit. Not sure how I feel wearing it to interviews and work, due to my age and connotations with the brand but we'll find out in time.

Does anyone here have any good recommendations on searching for an ‘81 Submariner 16800 with date?

Of course checking out the usual, Chrono24, eBay, Rolex forum but am I missing somewhere amazing?

I’m looking for original, with box (maybe papers)
