Re: Random Chat!!! (All Welcome!)

I remember one time listening in on a group of tweens. A few of them had seen an orange Lamborghini driving past the local petrol station the day before. The boys were beside themselves with joy, naturally. Then one of the girls (she was at least Craig's height BTW) coldly commented: "You saw a car yesterday - big deal!"  ajb007/lol

Re: Random Chat!!! (All Welcome!)

In the sharpest bend on the road home the authorities were tidying up after a bad front-to-front car crash. Six injured, two seriously wounded. By chance "We have all the time in the world" started on the CD player just as I drove past. It's not the first time I've felt a Bond song felt apropriate for the situation, but it's the first time it has made my feel sad.  ajb007/frown

Re: Random Chat!!! (All Welcome!)

Well bugger me , on my little jaunt down the A2 to Reclver yesterday , I'm now starting to read up on Goldfinger ( I've got to get the book ) as most of of it is set in the AS families playground , just read a snatch from the book that says whilst Bond was waiting for the next flight he went off to get some lunch , probably the Mermaid Inn at Rye , it's a favourite haunt for me and Mrs AS , well bugger me
https://s15.postimg.cc/sb4d378on/image.jpg
The inn is just up the Hill on the left ,it's very creaky and very old but the fare is worth the climb up the slippery cobblestones (no Laboutins here please) funny enough whilst the Monuments men was being filmed we bumped into George ,he had his lunch there too

By the way, did I tell you,  I was       "Mad"?

Re: Random Chat!!! (All Welcome!)

I copied and pasted some hightlights from the Darwin Awards (The last one is a winner!  ajb007/biggrin )

1. Man doesn’t understand Russian Roulette
You shouldn’t ever play Russian Roulette, but if you are going to, at least use the correct equipment (AP Photo/Mark Duncan)Back in 2000 a teenager in Texas tried to play an even more dangerous version of Russian Roulette. Instead of putting one bullet in a revolver and pulling the trigger, giving him a one-in-six chance of dying, he put the bullet in a semi-automatic pistol (where the bullets are instantly moved into the gun’s chamber), rising those odds to exactly 100 per cent.

2. Using a chainsaw to turn a grenade into a firework does not work
A frugal man once tried to save some money by using a grenade to create his own fireworks. For some unknown reason he decided to use a CHAINSAW to crack open the grenade and get that sweet sweet gunpowder inside. Sparks started flying through the air, shortly before parts of the man’s… well, you get the picture.

3. Man tries to fight a lion (and loses, suprisingly)
An Australian kung-fu master told his class in 1996 that they were good enough to ‘take on lions’. Clearly this encouragement was not supposed to be taken literally. One student took the words to heart and headed to his local zoo. Many shocked zoo visitors reportedly saw the ensuring ‘fight’, but we’ll leave the details up to your imagination. ‘Come at me bro!’

4. Two men steal a plane after a drunken bender – it doesn’t end well
We are constantly told to not drink and drive. But drinking and flying? No, it doesn’t work out well either, as two Canadian men discovered in 1996 after a weekend of boozing when they flew their stolen plane into some power lines.

5. Home-made bungee jumping chords don’t work
Please don’t ever try this at home. First the intrepid young fella used TAPE to fix two different bungee chords together, and then he cut them to measure the exact height of the bridge he wanted to jump from. He tied to chord to his car and jumped into the abyss, forgetting that bungee chords are designed to stretch…

6. Terrorist opens his own letter bomb
Iraqi terrorist Khay Rahnajet decided to send out a letter bomb in 2000. Not being the brightest of sparks he forgot to put enough postage stamps on the letter, meaning it came back to the ‘return to sender’ address. Khay was so happy to receive some post that he ripped it open. His career in terrorism ended there.

Re: Random Chat!!! (All Welcome!)

Yesterday my parents celebrated the 50th aniverity of their wedding. The family went up the Loen Skylift a 1000 meters almost straight up by Gondola (it's one of the steepest Gondola rides in the world) to the Hoven resturant  on the edge of the 100 meter cliff. I still think that's where the Austria scenes in SPECTRE ideally should have been filmed, but it wsn't finished by then.
My mother has been nervous about taking the Gondola, even to the point of saying she would never go there, but she loved it  ajb007/biggrin

The first time I went to the resturant on the edge of the cliff I just had an icecream. This time we had dinner with desert. Lovely!
The restaurant serves lovely meals and has a bar too. All the tables has a great view, buty we got a table with a particularely great view.Paragliders jumped off the mountain all the time. They lined up in an orderly cue, jumped and glided over the fjord. As soon as they landed they took the Gondola up again. Paragliders flew past the big windows, about 15 meters from our table. Great  ajb007/bond

Here is a paragliding video from Loen I found on Youtube:

Re: Random Chat!!! (All Welcome!)

After an incredibly sunny and dry spring and summer we actually worry our well will run dry (four farms share one well). I have never experienced this before, and neither has my father (born 1938).

Sweden is experiencing about 50 fires they can't control. This time it has nothing to do with badly integrated imigrants in the suburbs. 60% of Sweden is forrest and and all of it is bone dry.

Today I saw a car on fire on the A2 it was someone's BMW . Now I was with the police for many years .and saw many a stolen burnt out car , but I've never seen one on fire , man did it go up .There was 3 tenders from KFB in attendance and a MET X5 , and when I got home the woods outside my house were on fire so I had to call LFB to put  it out .
