Since we can't post political humor anymore (I'm not sure if I should blame: Higgins or Barbel - so I compromize by blameing both :p), I'll post strange news here.
Yesterday a woman in Norway found a lamb in her garden, dead from a high fall. She lives in the middle of a narrow valley and it was quiet outside. What do you think happened?
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
Could the lamb be an agent for Norwegian intelligence, who unlike Bond, when pushed out of an
Aircraft without a parachute, fail to find another ? ;)

That's not possible, because no plane could be heard. :)

But you do herd sheep ?

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,795MI6 Agent
We usually don't herd them, only when we need to move them from one field to another or up to the mountains in the spring and down again in the fall.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
True spring up, Fall down. ;)

Dropped by a bird of prey? I know you have eagle owls in Norway, but any big eagles that don't eat mostly fish?
It was either that.....or the priesthood

Around here the sheep walk around in the mountains all summer on their own. It saves on farm fields and labour. We only leave them a brick (block? Lump?) of salt and leave them alone. They usually survive.
But how did the lamb die? TP? Higgins? Barbel? Anyone?
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 36,324Chief of Staff
Snatched up by an eagle, who later dropped it?

Edit- Whoops, I see Chriscoop beat me to that!
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
The most logical explanation, .... Alien abduction. After Cattle mutilations, sheep droppings are
Next on the " fun night out on earth " things to do, for our Alien visitors.

What's wrong with the bird of prey theory?
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,795MI6 Agent
Sorry. I somehow misset both of those posts. I probably just read the last posts when visiting AJB. An eagle is likely the right answer. :007)
Even though I can see both the fields sheep (later in the year) grace on and an Eagle's Nest from my window, nothing like that has happened here. But in the north back in in 1932 a three and a half year old girl was found in an eagle's nest on a mountain. The experts claim a bird couldn't have lifted her, but how else can it be explained?
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 36,324Chief of Staff

A poor picture, but if you look closely you can see the eagle in the centre. We were warned by the handler that this bird could easily pick up a medium-sized dog and fly away. (This was in Wales, just under a year ago.) A 3-yr old weighs about the same as a medium-sized dog, or a lamb.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,795MI6 Agent
Yes, I belive an eagle could lift a toddler.

There are eagles that specialise in dragging goats off mountains and dropping them to kill them.
AS I SAID EARLIER a bird of prey is the most likely suspect, Eagle owls have wingspan getting up to nearly 2 meters and I'm pretty sure Norway will have decent sized eagles, golden eagles have been known to take lambs and even foxes!!
