Craig would rather slit his own wrists than play Bond again.

I can't wait till this all blows over and we can go back to focusing on the fact that A NEW JAMES BOND MOVIE IS COMING OUT IN THREE WEEKS!

I appreciate Craig's honesty, as well as his work-ethic.

With Moore, his movies didn't require as much physicality to make. And he was more comfortable letting a stuntman take over for him when things became physically taxing.

I'm sure seeing it in the paper made Babs & Mike frown...and then they probably said: "Make sure he has a nap before we put him on Jimmy Fallon." :))

    More like Graham Norton...

Hi everyone. Just a quick hello to all as new here.

Has anything been as polarising or diversive regarding DC's comments to play Bond again? (except perhaps Mr. Smith's 'Writing on the Wall')

We all have our favourite Bond and how the role is interpreted. I for one think Craig portrays Bond excellently, however, if he chooses to leave, well, we've dealt with that before, although I'm hard pushed to think of a credible alternative at the moment to be honest.

The momentum and anticipation of Spectre is incredible, and...'Bond will be back'...but will DC?...the opportunity to carry this forward is waiting there...just please... 'don't **** it up'

I'm pretty turned away by these interviews-however, reading it is completely different to seeing on camera. Moore's interviews were almost always in jest. Completely poking fun at himself. I'm hoping there's another interview with Craig before the film comes out that's a bit more upbeat or indicates he's just joking around.

Yes, certainly- the whole casting of Craig business was very polarising and divisive. Welcome to AJB, Devereaux, and please have a look at http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/45180/introduction-how-to-use-the-forum/ our guide for new members.

I think Sir Roger probably does a lot of interviews on automatic pilot.

I just don't buy into the notion that because someone is successful and made a lot of money they have to behave like a buffoon with an idiotic grin saying 'I'm so grateful' all the time. Some appreciation and interaction of fans is good but not every second of every day.

Benedict Cumberbatch is pretty good with those kinds of things but when he made a reasonable request for people to stop filming him whilst performing Hamlet he was accused of being a Diva. Even the saintly George Clooney has had his moments.

Daniel Craig is not alone. Harrison Ford is very prickly to interview and De Niro is notorious.

But do you mean it is OK for an actor to behave like a buffoon with an idiotic grin saying "I hate it", "Have had enough", "Would only do it again for the money", and so on? No one can force an actor to give an interview. And, if he agrees to an interview, he should treat the audience with respect and watch his language. If Craig quits now, he is still ahead. 1 or two more movies, and even his biggest fans will have had enough.

Even though I don't like Craig as Bond, I thought that him sticking around would be a good thing for the franchise. After reading these interviews I'm not so sure.

Give Craig a break? He'd just been interviewed just after filming and was exhausted. Give him time to regroup and get his act together.

    Oh aren't they just.

You know what I think this is?

Pierce Brosnan envy? Because Pierce got the boot after Dad? They have harboured a grudge against Craig since he succeeded to the role. So they lap up every problem

Whether you are Connery, Brosnan, Craig... you should know when to quit. Sure, Craig may keep the role until he is 76 - but is there really any point?

Even if there was a press conference unveiling the new James Bond by EON, would that even be enough to convince some fans DC was done?

Exactly...also he was saying this with his tongue firmly in cheek. He's not stupid, and I know he wouldn't bite the hand that feeds...

Especially as he KEEPS repeating he will play Bond for as long as he is able, and Broccoli wants him.

You see, that's where there the problem lies.

When Craigy is quoted as saying he'll doing another one only for the money, most of us think hey, he wouldn't have said it if he didn't mean or at least think it. We don't automatically think the press are bastards and just made it up.

But as you suggest it takes a closer kind of friendship which most don't have to know what he's like and really really means. Have you known him long and are you able to give us any further insights?

Never stop patronising, eh, Milesy? You are a Mod here, right?????

To the point you raise, what Craigy's said in the past irrelevant to his present feelings. Folk change their minds - even, I guess, DC :o . Even you'd accept that?

Thanks Sir M for understanding what I meant... it seems defending Craig on here is STILL an issue for some 8-)

I think if SPECTRE doesn't do as well as, or close to, Skyfall's box office it will give EON and the studio a good excuse to ditch him. It's obvious he'll want more money for Bond 25 so anti-Craig Bond fans need to hope/pray SPECTRE is a box office disappointment. You never know, if SPECTRE doesn't reach one billion dollars Craig will be gone!
