    According to the commentary, few of the people involved in the car chase were paid. Or indeed knew they were in a movie :))
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
    Yes, I think they couldn't get all the permits needed for the chase in time, so
    Had to go ahead anyway. :)) I don't think they'd recommend, doing it that
    Way though. :))

    Watched The 39 Steps (1978) with Robert Powell. Great version of the
    Classic story. -{ Haven't read the book since school, must give it another
    Go. ;)

    Watched Westworld for the first time yesterday. But disappointed tbh, I was expecting it to have a similar idea to Jurrasic Park, where the robots turn on the guests about 20 minutes into the film, and then we have our hero battling to save the rest of the guests. The Roman scenes go on for way too long as well. And the last 20 minutes are the most disappointing; it's just the main character running away from one robot. Overall, disappointing; it's worth watching once though.

    I'm not arguing with you MF, as we all have different tastes and opinions. {[] but
    I love west world, first saw it as a kid on Telly, like most boys I loved sci-fi and anything
    With Robots especially. :D . Only my opinion but it feels quite claustrophobic as it is a
    Story of the survival of one ordinary man from an unstoppable force, Yul is totally
    Cool in it. -{ ( he wears the same costume from the Magnificent Seven).
    Although the director on it's first screening ( in the studio ) thought it slow so recut many
    Scenes to speed up the story. :)) so I guess your not far off the mark. :))

    West World is superb! Of interest to Bond fans as it features one time potential Bond, James Brolin. I would have loved to have seen Yul Brynner as Blofeld too, as he is truly menacing in this film...

    It is being made. I know this because Ingrid Bolsø Berdal (whom I might have mentioned on this forum before :v) is in Westworld. There were also short scenes from the series in HBO's teaser trailer for 2015. Here is a picture of Ingrid Bolsø Berdal from Westworld:

    It probably does look a bit dated to modern eyes, but it is one of the Classic Sci-Fi movies. -{

    To the List of Classic Sci-Fi, I would also add -

    Omega Man and Logans Run.

    I hope not, I've never seen it either. When I grew up the TV channel never showed genre shows. Ther was no Westworld, Avengers, Star Trek, Charlie's Angels, Get Smart or even Dr Who. live in one of the few nations in the west were Dr Who isn't a houshold name. "Dr Who - isn't that about a teenage girl?" a friend of mine asked the other day.
    It wasn't all bleak. We had Gunsmoke, The Muppet Show and Tales of the Unexpected among other Things.

    Did you also have Armchair Thriller? It was produced by ITV and I remember my Dad telling me that it frightened him back in the Day.

    Yep! {[] The Omega Man with old Chuck Heston is great, I didn't know at the time
    There is an even earlier version with Vincent Price. Logan's run is fun too getting
    Kulled at 30, so I've a few years yet ! :))

    There are loads of 70s sci-fi and horror films. Luckily I got to see many in the cinema as
    our local " Flea pit" didn't care about age, just your money. :)) it also helped a young
    Thunderpussy see porn like " Confessions of a plumbers mate" etc. Well the closest we
    Could get ( no internet, in the old days) :))
    Most of the young David Cronenberg stuff like " Shivers" or " Rabid" are great for low
    Budget horror.

    Two of my all time favorite non Bond Directors are John Carpenter and David Cronenberg -{

    {[] mine too :)) Carpenter has a talent for suspense ,very like Hitchcock, which
    He said " Halloween " was an homage to. ;) Cronenberg has a really dark side, some of
    His ideas are F*cked up ! :)) in a brilliant way.
    I love the story about how the Canadian film board help finance " Shivers", then on
    Seeing it, they tried to disown it, up until the point it began to win awards and go on
    To be ( at the time) the most successful Canadian movie, ever ! :))

    I remember reading that Donald Pleasence as the President was terrible miscasting
    yet I think it was Brilliant, as he is supposed to be a right wing almost " Dictator "
    president :D
    I'll keep an eye out for the remake of the Thing ( one of my favourite horrors) -{
    The funny thing is the bit I don't like in The Thing, is checking the blood and they
    Have to cut their thumbs with a knife ! :))

    It's amazing that what once was a video nasty you can now buy, and in fact
    Some of the stuff in mainstream horror goes further than the older nasties ever
    Tried. :)) I love the " Saw" movies but have to watch them on my own as my wife
    Refuses to watch them. :# according to her they're too realistic. :)) yet I find the
    Violence in " Harry Brown" much more disturbing as it's realistic, not the over the
    Top gore of most horror movies. ;)
