Any confirmation on Bond wearing the Black SMP in QOS? My dealer has the regular edition in stock now.

A work colleague just arrived at the office sporting the new Black SMP. I had the opportunity to look at it quite close and it is a beautiful timepiece. I may have to retire my GE SMP and pick up one of these.

    Interesting piece of information...

My AD called me today, and he talked to a Omega sales rep for his region (Portland,Oregon)who said that Bond will only be wearing the PO in QOS, and not the black SMP at all. Don't know if someone else knows something different, but suprising that this info was given to the AD.

That's interesting, what's an AD (Assistant Director)? I don't doubt what you were told, but why would a sales rep in Oregon have this information?

i would think AD=Authorized Dealer (i.e. a licensed omega retailer). I dont think it woud be completely uncommon for retailers of brands that were used in a film to be informed by the brand as to what was used, etc. In fact, I recall the Lobb boutique in NY being very knowledgeable about what shoes were supplied to CR.

I would say, however, that my experience with AD's (particularly when it comes to watches) is pretty poor. In other words, it is very common for them to be un/misinformed on any number of things.

Not that I am saying that i dont believe this particular AD on this particular issue...but for me, personally, i would wait for some corroboration before concluding much of anything.

AD is Authorized Dealer...sorry for the confusion. Not sure why a sales rep would have this info, like I said suprising that it was told to a dealer from a sales rep. Have not heard anything else since.

I'm currently still wearing the blue faced special edition Omega SMP that was released in 2002. It still looks flawless to this day..

Asp9mm, would you be so kind as to post the pics of the stunt watch again please, as I missed them first time round and would love to see them.

    Thanks.

I noticed on the official Omega site tonight they have updated their James Bond Watches wallpapers. It now shows the black faced Seamaster, and the 42mm Planet Ocean with steel strap. Here is the link

Looks like Asp9mm was correct along with the others with the screen shots the 42mm is the watch for QOS. The pictures are absolutely striking!! I'm purchasing my 42mm Planet Ocean with steel strap on Saturday...I can't wait!!!

The Omega site also shows the new hour vision under the Bond Wallpapers

So we expected the Blue Seamaster 300M for continuation reasons, and we saw the steel-banded 42 Planet Ocean, but how many other watches are going to be worn? Two hour visions as well? A black-faced seamaster (presumably not the 007 edition one) too? Including the rubber 45 planet ocean, that would put him in six watches in one story. That's moving from connoisseur towards diva.
Otherwise, perhaps since the Hour Visions are not under the James Bond Watches heading they will be worn by another character?
The Ambassadors section of the site just lists the black and blue 300ms and the rubber po.
    Still waiting I guess

I think that they do not update their site often given that the Casino Royale ad is still on the site. So I'm guessing they are working on the updates (slowly) From previous posts here there will be no 45.5 mm PO in this film. Not sure about the hour vision.

... and it is very likely, that we won't also see a blue Seamaster Professional.

Omega has spent a lot of money promoting the "Blue" Bond Seamaster, eventho it's not in the new movie still a best seller and money maker for them

I just checked back on the site at wallpapers and they have removed the PO and black seamaster wallpapers. Hopefully they get their stuff together and change the content under the Bond section of their site. It's suprising that with the movie coming up they are doing no promoting on the site for the new movie.

... that will depend on the contracts, that they have with EON.
I think, we'll find more the explanation in this than in Omega's swiss slow pace.

dunno where you got your info from on the 42. I spoke to a guy recently who worked with lindy hemming and they have about 50 Omegas on set for filming.

Lindy Hemming is not working on QOS.
The planet ocean on the picture and in all of the other pictures is a 42.5mm Seamaster PO model 22015000, trust me
Oh, and I´m getting myself one
What we all should be wondering is what will happen to the omega "James Bond Seamaster" campaign. Will they introduce the PO as Bond´s new watch? I personaly hope so. Daniel Craig´s personal choice seems to be the PO as well. Interesting, Pierce never had the Seamaster on his personal life. Craig seems to like the PO, or he just likes being James Bond full time.

The PO is 42 mm in size and not 42.5

I did get to look at the Black SMP regular edition when I picked up my PO. Very nice watch, but after looking and it and the classic blue SMP the PO is a new fresher look, and I think they will keep with this watch for awhile. Anyone on the fence about getting a PO jump over and pick one up!!
  • sandy007robbsandy007robb Posts: 3MI6 Agent
I believe that the PO and SMP will both feature in the film. The SMP will be used when Bond wears his tuxedo and the PO will be used for action sequences. I have just bought the limited edition SMP and believe there will be a new limited edition PO (5007) released in October. For me the SMP is the better looking watch but I am slightly biased.

Who do you think gets the 007 numbered watch when they issue the limited releases? I wonder if Daniel Craig gets these.
  • k5211k5211 UKPosts: 164MI6 Agent
No, I know Lindy isnt working on the film, my point is there will be a lot of the watches on the film costume and I would bet there are 42's and 45s. and dude, that aint a 42, what are you, crazy

    what?

You are new to the forum, so you may consider the fact, that we are showing good manners here.

The watch is 42 mm, however you turn it.

    And what am I?

Well, I have a 23 years experience in the watch business, what do you have to offer?
