    1) Wouldn't Bond, who is half Scotish, say "Britain" when asked about country?
This jarred slightly when I first read about the preview in Las Vegas. However...

    1) Personally I dislike the term "Britain" as a reference to nation, it seems quite a flippant way to refer to the entity which Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland make up, which is the United Kingdom. Britain, UK, United Kingdom would probably all sound a little odd in a word play like that.

    2) England is a country. As is Scotland, and Wales. They are non-sovereign constituent countries, granted, but countries nonetheless.

    3) We don't know in what context he is saying it.

    4) It's not as jarring when that hypocritical old nationalist *** says "The things I do for England" in Thunderball.

So as a unionist Scot, it doesn't bother me :)

And, of course, Bond himself doesn't realise he's half Scottish until the very last few Bond books, starting with OHMSS.

Up until then, he's happily believed himself to be English, refering to himself as that in the early novels.

So maybe sequentially, the Bond of SKYFALL, still early in his career, doesn't realise he might have a bit of Scottish blood?

Hey, maybe he only becomes part Scottish when he's played by a Scotsman in the continuity, around DR NO? Which is where all the Bond is part Scots stuff started (and I do not accept Charles Helfstein's take on this: Bond is only Scottish as a consequence of SC).

But, hang on, isn't the Bond family seat, the house that's attacked, IN Scotland, in SKYFALL??? Maybe THAT'S what jogs his memory about hsi background, AFTER he's declared his country to be "England"?

    :D :o ;)

I had completely forgotten all the things Bond did for England! Also, I wouldn`t presume to know what a Scotsman would say or feel better than real Scotsmen. Norway was in a union with Sweden before 1905 that was pretty simmular to Scotland and England today. I doubt many Norwegians back in the day would have answered in a way simmilar to Bond, but different times - different countries. But I was very much aware that Skyfall makes a big point of Bond being of Scotish decent, probably more than any other in the series apart from OHMSS. I look forward to seeing how it all works in the movie.

I need to realize this is only a teaser trailer. I watch it then get disappointed that I haven't seen more. I need to watch it with the word teaser firmly planted in my mind, then maybe I can enjoy it more. Off to watch it once more.

Here is the UK version of the teaser trailer. It is not identical to the version at 007.com. After the Beetle cars tumble from the train. The UK version has Bond throwing a punch at an adversary, 007.com has Bond struggling with an adversary under water.

Interesting jogging scene, in Regents park, close to the SAS Barracks, and also in terms of the Old Fleming books, Regents Park had an MI6 headquaters referred in them!

The trailer scenes where he's standing without a shirt in silloette in a brick lined room with industrial lighting matches the interior of the gun target range. I have a feeling that Bond is put through some kind of physical/mental rebooting which entails workouts (like running which you mentioned ), pistol training, and pyscholgical exam.

Because TonyDP can summarize my thoughts better than I can, let me quote him from the Craig is a Bada$$ thread.

"I look at the new teaser and I don't see Bond at all, I see a generic action movie starring a homely actor who looks like he just woke up after an all night bender, badly in need of a shave and a bloody mary. I guess that's representative of today's action hero - I don't really know as I'm not the intended audience anymore - but given what I grew up watching, the whole premise has no appeal to me at all."

I watched the trailer and did not smile once, I use to watch the Bond trailers and have a big grin on my face thinking about how much fun the film would be. Now I watch and think that might be interesting, but that isn't the Bond film I want to see. Was it visually interesting, yes, was it Bond, no.

I like the teaser trailer. Like Hardyboy said, "feeling that old thrill". Would love to see Bond training! Since Bond has expertise in so many areas, hand to hand combat, firearms, etc., it would be natural to be training when not on a mission. Precisely what the guys in the special ops community do when not on mission, they train and keep a certain level of fitness. Proficiency with firearms, for example, is a perishable skill. You don't use it you lose it. You need to train to maintain "muscle memory".

The trailer indeed make Bond look like a "badass" or rather a "blunt instrument".

It is a trailer so who knows how much it will actually match up with the final film, but it does look like what I imagined a Bond film would be if Philip Noyce (Patriot Games; A Clear and Present Danger) had directed it . . . I'm sometimes put off when the visuals of a modern film seem to be more important than the actual acting and story to it, but this looks pretty good. I am getting the sense that Bond here will be more familiar, as the moments with Craig seem more in keeping with Connery's Bond than the fellow we saw in the last film. I especially like that Daniel Craig continues to exude the confidence that a physical man must have to be plausible.

Well more than decent teaser IMO. How many times have we seen movie teasers and full trailers that are terrific only to find out when we actually see the whole film that anything worth seeing was in the trailer and the film is a big disapointment. I don't believe that will be the case with "Skyfall".

Because of the internet and how we can literally follow a Bond film these days from pre-production to final product causes something like a teaser trailer to loose a bit of magic, impact, and excitement. Back in the good old days, even though you might know a new Bond film was coming when you sat in that dark theater and the previews began to roll a Bond teaser would still catch you by surprise and really get the juices flowing

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed how much better Craig looks in actual footage (even with the stubble) than in the unofficial photos?

I loved it. Really amped me up for the movie (if that was more possible).

Downloaded the movie and analyzed frame by frame. Some good info to be gleaned.

The more I watch it, the better it gets. But The more I watch it, the more I piece the film together in my head, and will ultimately ruin it like I did with QoS.

Besides that, it looks so schmich, swish and classy. Lets hope once the final cut hits screens it lives up to our expectations. The London Underground crash looks great. I really like that the film has a chunk of it set in London as I recently lived there and it will be awesome to see the city again in a 007 flick.

All the characters were there, albeit in 1 sec shots each. Will Severine be bad? She looked it! Wow I could talk all day!

Oh how I long for the good old days, when a new James Bond Teaser was always accompanied by that ol familiar, but lately missing theme music...

I loved the trailer, but I agree that it would have been nice to have the familar theme music in there. It would have fit in nicely there at the end.

I liked it too. This really was a teaser. Severine doesn't look mean, not even a frown or wrinkles on her face. She is very beautiful French woman. I keep playing the trailer over and over. I see a scene where the estate is on fire and the villain Raoul Silva appears to be escaping. We also see James Bond running way in a tunnel with fire. I found one article that suggested M was looking at the Union Jack draped coffins because James Bond was dead. James Bond die? Now you know that's not going to happen.

This is too funny. After I watched the trailer I scanned this thread looking for Barry and Tony's comments cuz I knew they would be on par with how I felt about it. Maybe it's the just the way movies are made today, so dark and foreboding, but it left me a little cold. Parts were intriguing and definitely exciting, but it has that same downer feel of QOS already. And DC said this one is going to be lighter???

I keep wondering if it's still DC that bugs me or just the generic action theme stamped on every film lately that just doesn't stick out as Bond to me. Time will tell.

Yeah, its the ROCKY tribute scene. Can't you just hear "Gonna Fly Now" in the background as Bond gets back into shape and prepares for the "fight".

Finall scene of Bond after winning: "If I can change, everyone can change. Yo, M; I did it!"

Seriously though, we know Craig works out but do we need to have it emphasised? Personally, I prefer to believe Craig-Bond gets those pecks, etc, naturally, while sitting at the bar drinking martinis, bourbon and champagne. In the same way as Rog prepared on Cubans to take on Super Villains and pull young birds with his paunch, moobs and wheezy running style; I like my Bond with just a bit of fantasy and suspension of disbelief.

But I guess this'll be to allow a few Craig skin shots. It'll be part of Babs demands in the contract. And make all Craig's time and gym effort worthwhile.

Personally I am stoked by this trailer and very excited about the new movie. My only slight gripe is the music in the trailer -I want sweeping strings or familiar Bond theme sounds not some modern day techno trance dance hybrid -but hey perhaps I'm just showing my age. However I think this is shaping up to be a good if not great Bond movie -I do think there will be some classic moments -and in years to come it will be really appreciated. I for one am hoping it does prove to be great and much of what I saw was beautifully shot. I don't think many of us will be disappointed. :007)

Daniel Craig looked better in the trailer than numerous unofficial photo's I have seen. But then he is not very photogenic. In some of the unofficial photo's he looks fine, in others he looks crumpled and considerably older than his 44 years. Ultimately, it is how he looks in Skyfall that matters.

All the main characters were there except Q (Ben Whishaw). He's been kept under wraps along with Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem), who I believe is the figure walking from the burning building. Also, Kincade (Albert Finney) who is in the trailer for all of about two frames. Click on the link below and you will see an old bearded man standing next to M.

Just watched the trailer twice, and I am very impressed and excited! I saw most of your comments about how it doesn't feel like a classic bond, which I definitely agree. Perhaps its just the way they cut the trailer in order to appeal to a broader audience, such as Bourne or MI fans. Either way it looks very stylish, has some beautiful shots, which is still a key element to a classic Bond. That Shot of Bond and M with the DB5 in what looks like a homage to the Connery Furka Pass photos is exceptional. Only 6 months to go boys, this was only meant to wet our appetite :).

i can understand how many forum members long for the "classic" Bond days, particularly after viewing this trailer. The way i see it though, is that the era of "classic" bond, however one defines that, is still very much alive and in context in the film. that said, this is 2012 and audiences want to see conflicted, troubled heroes, which Bond was to begin with. He still does everything that we want him too do, but its great to get under his skin while he does the things we expect of him, I also can see how some think it looks too "Bourne-ish", but as i mentioned above, this is 2012 and we're getting a 2012 Bond film, its a product of the times, just like the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's Bonds are represent their era.

As a fan of the books first and the movies a distant second, I for one am glad that 'classic' Bond elements like the theme and the gunbarrel have been toned down in the Craig movies so far. I know the movies are what made the character famous, but I've been waiting years for the serious character studies and thrillers we're finally getting.
