I had to see the Doctor this morning due to increasing lightheadedness and dizzy spells. Been going on for a week and was getting worse. As I have to watch my blood pressure, scared the crap out of me. - Turns out it's just an infection! A day stuck at home with a head like a top for nothing.

Bit that really pissed me off? It's my birthday.

Don't get me wrong, relieved and grateful I'm Ok. But the timing....
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

First of all happy birthday TB2 ,hope you got plenty of Bond prezzies,
secondly , due to my failing hearing ,(im a bit mutton) due to ,too much loud rock music and lots of loud bangs ,I finally got my appointment to see a hearing specialist at the Queen Elizabeth hospital at Woolswamp in S.E. London . :D .So off I go in my new toy (details later) early of course,to find a rare parking space. Not only did it take me less than 12 minuets to get there ,but found a row of empty spaces ,oh well better to be early than late . Parking 2 hours HOW MUCH,£2.50 ,legalised mugging. Goes into the relevant department ,only to be told that my long awaited appointment has been cancelled ??? . "By whom ? I asked ,don't know came the reply ,but heres a number to call to re-book .Well it wasn't the receptionist fault ,so no point in going ape at her. Now not only was it warmest day of the year ,and I had to give up the comfort of ones sun lounger and cold beer ,but the appointment was bang in the middle of the day ,so a whole day wasted . So ended up back at home to give me new toy another wash and wax ,and im still deaf to boot X-(
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

Why do the government want to have six appointed members sitting on the bbc board ?
I don't want ANY government interference with an independent broadcaster, this then
becomes a State broadcaster as in N.Korea! X-( no independent questioning of politicians,
    just government spin.

On the subject of rants ......

I see Donald Trump has said David Cameron's statement that he ( Trump)
Wouldn't be good for America and had some extreme views, was very Hurtful.
I too think Cameron was wrong to pick on such a shy, mild mannered, meek
    individual as Mr Trump. ;)

After hearing Boris Johnson's remark about the EU - my rant for today goes to my UK friends:

    STOP! QUOTING! HITLER!

Entire Europe has suffered tremendously from him and his regime and many people from my generation feel a mixture of guilt and shock about how this could all happen. Still today!

We still are afraid that a weakness for this kind of cockups is in our DNA and most of us are doing everything that this can't happen again.

On several occasions - not only on AJB, I've seen mentionings of Hitler, Auschwitz, Himmler, Goering and others.
Of course many mean it funny - or smart - or what else - I can assure that it's not.

Over the years, I have received pms from at least 3 different members which ended with "Sieg Heil" and "Heil Hitler"

I can assure you that these kind of remarks are not well received here - no matter how you've meant it!

I must admit I have written posts about Hitler that were ment to make fun of him, but I wasn't as clear about that as I should have been. I agree with Higgins. Boris Johnson's comparison between Hitler's Germany and the EU wasn't just in extremely bad taste, it showed a lack of understanding of history. While many of us are chritical of the European Union, it's just a political and economical union. Countries can vote to join or leave. Hitler occupied much of Europe after military conquest and was responsibled for genocide, brutal oppression and slavery.

IM shocked at reading that our friend Higgins ,has had fellow agents reply to him using NAZI expressions ,this is utterly deplorable ,
and as some one who has German family ,I find this totally in bad taste ,Regardless of current or past comedy tastes ,leave the Nazis in the past .theres no room here on AJB for the swastika .

I too would like to apologise if anything I've written has caused offence. :#
I recently made a joke about Colditz, but please understand it was made with
The British sense of the absurd, and as a bit of leg pulling about old war films.
No insult or slight was intended and fully agree with AS and others that use of
Nazi expressions is totally deplorable . Although I will still end all my private
Messages with kisses & Hugs , with a few tastefully posed semi-nude shots.
    On a lighter note ...... once again I blame Number24. :p ;)

And on that note - a bit of good news!

Guys Thanks to those of you who wished me a Happy Birthday in here, its much appreciated and made me feel much better at a rather rotten low point. - Apologies that I am a month late in responding. ;%

Higgins - here is the only rude / cheeky comment you'll hear from me, this once. -
Do your trainers come in handy when cycling at night? I an trying to get back into shape, and luminous clothing would help me with cycling when the sun goes down. Semi-serious piss take over. (I say that cause I do need new cycling kit!)

People not doing their job properly! X-(

My son goes to a residential camp during term time (adventure type) and I was allowed to pay in instalments... £45 every month, from Feb.

Only, the school has gone and cashed 3 cheques at once X-( (defeating the whole point of monthly instalments) - I appreciate it's my responsibility to double check... but not being the greatest book keeper, I just assumed the school would honour this agreement.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem - but being rather generous on a certain person perhaps being Bond ;% ... this has left me a tad short. :#

rice and beans it is for me.... :(

I didn't think personal cheques were issued anymore (at least I haven't had a chequebook for a number of years) but your bank should not be honouring post-dated cheques anyway - complain to them!

Yep, cheques are still used. And you can post date them... that's the whole point of instalments (when paying by cheque) - the school should have cashed the cheques when they were issued for... ie Feb chq, should have been paid in by Feb.

It's not the bank... it's the school.

There is no ATM in the Falklands and the one and only bank in the Islands closes at 3pm on a Friday and does not reopen until 8am Monday morning. Needless to say everybody here uses Cheques in shops, bars and restaurants. Quite funny.

Ah ok I see now - I thought you meant that the cheques were dated June, July etc. in which case your bank should have refused payment.

They still issue check books here in The Philippines but the penalty for issuing a cheque which is not honoured can result in a jail term! I always use the ATM card for all my purchases and use online banking. I use cards for my UK accounts also - I was getting mixed up with the UK banks now not issuing cheque cards to honour the payments instead of not issuing cheques at all.
