Sweet! What shirt did you buy? I'm looking for a good option myself for the TB outfit. I have the Sunspel trunks. Ya know, the ones that are suppose to be like the TB trunks but were modeled off of the wrong picture from a non-Bond Connery movie. 8-) I must say that they are fantastic trunks though.

Ah yes, woman of straw is the film I think, I've got some of those too, cracking bar to beach shorts, I bought a ted baker shirt, really nice and looks a treat with sky blue shorts, I'm teaming these up with some Base London fish and chips pumps, navy blue with white sole, these shoes are a modern take on crochet pumps. Some tom ford snowdens or even my folding persols will complete the look. :)

Found a budget alternative for the Sanders & Sanders Chukka Boot from Spectre.

    http://www.aspecto.co.uk/mens-c1/mens-shoes-c4/boots-c15/barbour-steve-mcqueen-hiltz-chukka-p4870

It's a bit lighter in colour but last year they sold the same boots that were a closer match in colour. I own a pair of the darker ones from last year and they are very comfortable and good quality boots for the price.

I got a bunch of emails today from these and other companies wanting to sell me stuff so I took a look around to see what they were selling and found these lol.

I brought a pair of Base London Marauder as a budget substitute for the Sanders & Sanders Chukka Boot from Spectre:

    BL100073-base-london-marauder-f.jpg

Besides the obvious difference of it having rubber sole vs. the crepe sole of the playboy chukka (which I am fully aware of when ordering), I was disappointed to find that, upon receiving the boots, that the color is more a aged tan than the chocolate/snuff colour as shown. It also comes in a dark brown colourway, but it looks too dark from the pictures I can find online.

Having said that I am very impressed with the look and comfort of these boots (let alone the price!). I guess if I'm looking at it as glass half full, the rubber sole should at least last longer than the crepe sole :p I may even have a go at darkening it with some shoe polish to see if I can somehow get mine to resemble more of the snuff colour.

They are nice boots, I like Base London footwear and theyve always provided me with excellent value for money.
Apparently the Sanders and sanders boots aren't wearing well, so I'm pleased I went for these delicious junction Bullit chukka boots for £59.99

So, maybe not a Bond item for a specific outfit but I am very happy with the shirt I ordered at Charles Tyrwhitt (ctshirts.com). They often have a 4 shirts for £100,- discount. Lots of different weaves and collar types. Most shirt have the option of a single or a double cuff. Also, they come in 3 fits with the ability to choose both your collar and your sleeve length. Are they Brioni shirts..... no, but for this price I haven't found any better shirts yet.

I am not familiar with their other products like suits, ties, shoes and outerwear, however they have some items that may be of interest:
Sky blue polo (Dr No) http://www.ctshirts.com/uk/slim-fit-sky-pique-polo/JEP0149SKY.html#cgid=casualwear-polo-rugby-shirts&start=42

While looking over the JCPenny Stafford Brown sharkskin (which looks pretty good), I think the grey sharkskin could also work for the Istanbull Skyfall suit!

I bought a pair of Delicious Junction last year. I found it ran small for the stated size, and too narrow for my wide feet.

I just received the John Lewis braided belt as a BC budget alternative. Two wears and it's already my favorite belt. Very comfortable, great looking, and the medium is a perfect fit for me.

I've quite wide feet and didn't have an issue. I think they've worn quite well too.
I also have the John Lewis belt, in large and it's a tad big for me with a 35" waist, wish I'd bought the m.

I'm curious also as I'm interested in purchasing the belt. How stretchy is the belt? Does it stretch out over time because of the braid? I'm a 36" waist.

I have a braided leather belt from Massimo Dutti. It does have some stretch when you are wearing it just due to the nature of the construction. So if you need a belt to hold your pants up, braided is not the way to go because you'll constantly need to tighten it up. But if you're just going to wear it for style, then braided is fine. I've had the belt for 3 years now and it has maybe permanently stretched out by about 1/2".

Just to be clear, I differentiate between "woven" and "braided". To me, woven consists of a higher quantity of thinner strands of leather in a much tighter construction (like the John Lewis one). Braided is fewer, thicker strands of leather in a looser construction. So for me, this is a woven belt:
    506270?wid=800&hei=800&op_sharpen=1

And this is a braided belt:
    torino-leather-weathered-tumbled-leather-glove-belt-brown-58051_0.jpg

I know manufacturers use the terms interchangeably, but I think it's important to make a distinction since a woven belt will have less stretch than a braided belt when you are wearing it due to the number of strands and the tightness of the construction. Just my two cents!

My waist currently measures 35" and the belt hits at the middle hole. I'd say it runs according to the John Lewis size chart when measuring your actual waist.

There is a little stretch in the belt but not a lot. Will see how that changes over time.

Chriscoop, what size boot did you take? I wear an US11.5 4E in athletic shoes, a US12 in J Crew Kentons, and UK11F in Loake Kempton chukkas and with my Herring chukka boots. I couldn't even get my feet into the UK11 Delicious Junction chukkas.

As mentioned, a medium is perfect for a 35" waist.

I wear a UK size 11, EU 45, I think my feet are a tad under that size as the delicious junction are a fit but most boots and shoes have a little room on me.
The belt was a Christmas gift from Mrs Coop, I wear can it but on the very last hole. I know a medium would have been perfect, there is some stretch in mine but not excessive.

New post is up: affordable (mostly) alternatives for the Bond dressing gowns from Goldfinger and Casino Royale; kind of a companion piece to yesterday's post, in case you feel like you need to wear something while shaving.

There's a lot of discussion about that jacket in this thread on Dappered.com

    http://threads.dappered.com/showthread.php/20200-Target-s-Merona-Harrington-style-coat

Overall, the reviews seem pretty positive especially for the price.

I didn't include in the TF Harrington list because it has the knitted cuffs and hem.

Keeping on topic with canoe's recent post on the bath robes (great stuff!), here is my take on the CR hospital room with Vesper outfit. I find it to be SUPER comfy for laying around at home, doing bills, laundry etc.. haha

-Ralph Lauren Navy Pajama bottoms ($25 on sale a few years ago at Macy's)
    - SA White leather Converse Jack Purcells ($70)
    - Hanes white t shirt

If anyone is looking for a more affordable JV suede jacket alternative, this one from Michael Kors is on sale at Macy's. Obviously some differences: the jacket is washed nubuck and black and it has the two chest pockets. But it's also on sale for $350 with all sizes in stock. This one may have been mentioned before; just bringing it up because it's on sale:

Nice jacket. Very similar to the dark blue one I bought last year from Danier Leather here in Canada for just $75. They had a one day 50% off sale last summer on items already 50% off!

Sadly they are going through a liquidation sale right now and won't be around much longer. :(
