Speaking of reiss (as I too often do) they have a new Talamone shawl collar alternative from ss18 https://www.reiss.com/p/shawl-collar-cardigan-mens-montreal-in-black/
    Screenshot_20180215-082615.png
As usual this will probably end up around £60 in their sale but take your chances with sizes available.

James Brosnan: thanks brother! Email coming your way today!

Chriscoop: I beat you to that one! But I still gave the credit to you for reiss in general {[]

angelicbond: Thanks! And I'll be in touch with the group today. Missed you guys as well!

    Black QoS cardigan updates: http://www.iconicalternatives.com/2015/11/30/quantum-of-solace-black-shawl-collar-cardigan/

Dirty Punker, I completely agree the J.Crew one is a great alternative. But check out this one:

    Allegra-K-Shawl-Collar-Cardian.jpg?zoom=1.25&resize=283%2C400

    It's about $40/ 30 GBP on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078KTJMRM

And something fun: it was Carnival at my son's school on Tuesday and the theme was Día de Muertos (because all the kids love the movie Coco). So I decided to make my son's costume and put my own spin on it

    20180213_060656.jpg

It was a bit of a rush getting it done, but I think it captures the "spirit" of original ( 8-) for lame dad joke).

Quick Edit: I don't think he is on here, but one of the commenters on the site suggested checking out Samuel Windsor for some shoe alternatives. They have this Prestige Country Boot for 57 GBPs

    Here is the link: https://www.samuel-windsor.co.uk/buy.cfm/mens-boots/prestige-country-boot-rubber-sole/73/yes/122657

Good Islay alternative if you hit that welt with some black edge dressing

Thanks Mr. Brosnan! He had fun and kept the suit and tie on the whole day. Poor kid was sweating to death by the end of the day!

Updates to the McQueen blue cardigan: http://www.iconicalternatives.com/2016/09/15/steve-mcqueen-blue-shawl-collar-cardigan/

I've got the Grey Prada cardigan coming up next, a couple of boot and shoe post updates and then I should be publishing the post on alternatives for the CG Lodge Hoody by Tuesday.

If possible an update on the Spectre BC Morocco blazer and belt would be great.

I have the jacket post update scheduled a little closer to spring, around the end of March/beginning of April. But I will look into the belt ASAP!

Welcome back Canoe2! Great to have our captain back at the helm! :007)
  • canoe2canoe2 Posts: 2,007MI6 Agent
    Thanks drum007!

I'm a little late with this one. But I wanted to add some info to the post about down jackets in general. I give you alternatives for the Canada Goose Lodge Hoody:

    http://www.iconicalternatives.com/2018/02/22/canada-goose-lodge-hoody-spirit-blue/

Tomorrow I'll be updating some more posts (that SP belt is on the list!). Hope to get those published by the end of the weekend.

Does anyone have any interest in alternatives for non-Bond Craig ties? I was thinking of doing a post on those. For example, here are a couple of ties I picked up that come close to this TF (the image comes from a post here by other othertravel in this thread: https://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/43337/daniel-craig-nonbond-ties-thread/)

The one on the left is more budget friendly option from Charles Tyrwhitt. On the right is one from Turnbull & Asser. The patterns and sizes aren't exact matches, but I'm pretty happy. Let me know and I'll start searching for better options! Tab collar dress shirts was another topic I'm thinking about.

    All the best, gentlemen!

I think that this "Vincenzo Boretti" tie is a lot closer to what you're looking for.
    https://www.amazon.de/Vincenzo-Boretti-Herren-Krawatte-Hahnentritt/dp/B0753XK2Z1/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1519311897&sr=1-1&keywords=vincenzo%2Bboretti%2Btie&th=1

As an alternative to the QoS "La Paz Arrival" tie, I bought the brown version of it after I saw it as a suggestion for that outfit at BAMFStyle and I have to say that the quality of the silk and construction of the tie is a bargain for its price.

    It's not that wide, though.
Definitely get on to tab collar dress shirts. (Were they the fad in the 90's? Jules wears one in Pulp Fiction.)
    a reasonable rate of return

I for one would be very interested in the tab collar shirts one you mentioned.
  • canoe2canoe2 Posts: 2,007MI6 Agent
Dirty Punker, that VB is a great match! And I picked up that VB brown one when you shared it.

Alright, sounds like there's some interest in tab collar shirts. I'll look into it ASAP! I'm not sure how much of a fad they were. It seems they were just the collar style of choice with Mafia members until SF came along :D

I was still hoping for something on the Daniel Craig flat caps. Especially that BC one he’s had on everywhere recently.

A budget version of the flat cap would be great.

goneontheroad and Westward_Drift: I'm actually working on a caps post. Just waiting for some different ones to arrive. I was daignosed with skin cancer in early December and had to have some operations and treatment to clean things up. So hats, sun protection and skin care are topics close to my heart right now.
  • JTMJTM Posts: 3,027MI6 Agent
Ahh mate that's no good. All the best with any upcoming medical tests/procedures you might need to do—kick that cancer's arse!
  • canoe2canoe2 Posts: 2,007MI6 Agent
Thanks! All clear now as of my last checkup. But wear sunscreen every day, gentlemen! And a hat! Which I will be posting about shortly ... B-)
  • ChriscoopChriscoop Belize Posts: 10,449MI6 Agent
I bought a flat cap a few months ago, it's been a good buy.
My wife is obsessed with sun damage to skin so she's got me into wearing sun protection ( yes even in a climate like the UK) I have face cream that has a 15 sph rating which I wear daily, then boost to 30-50 sph in the summer months.
Sorry to hear about that canoe2 and glad to hear your all clear.

    Thanks Chris!

I'm going to go into a little detail about that skin cancer. Consider it a PSA :D

For me it started with what looked like a pimple or ingrown hair on my cheek. But then it opened up and bleed a little; my first thought was that it had gotten infected. So I cleaned it with antiseptic, but after about a week it still wouldn't close or heal up. There was also some redness and discoloration around the edges. That's when I went to the doctor. She did the examination, found a couple of other suspect spots and told me what it was.

"Cancer" is a scary word. But honestly what I had wasn't that big a deal. Nor was it completely unexpected given that I'm a very pale skinned gringo living in a tropical country. I had to have some surgeries with the doc and a plastic surgeon to excise the growths, but they were caught early so it wasn't very invasive. Basically, I had a couple of months with a slightly uncomfortable face and now have a few new small scars. And I need to go for regular check ups every 3 months.

Long story short: wear sunscreen every day, just like Chris does. And apply it 2 or 3 times during the day (it does wear off). If you know you'll be outside for long periods of time, wear a hat. And check yourself often. If you see anything that looks weird, get to the doctor. If you catch the cancer early enough, solving the problem can be very simple.

Alright, lecture over. And I promise I won't bring it up again!

Back to business: new options for the J.Crew Kentons!

    http://www.iconicalternatives.com/2015/12/01/j-crew-kentons-spectre/

Some good new alternatives out there! Obi Sean Kenobi, I listed those Tafts you shared with credit to you.

And I also found some shoe sole dye, so we can change those natural soles to the brick red.

While on the topic of boots: when I was searching around, I found these Islay alternatives from Marks and Spencer for 79 GBP

Working on the tab collar shirt post. I'm actually finding some interesting options

During the search I came across this option for the Zara Enjoying Death shirt. First good one I've seen in a while!

    Wow man. Sorry to hear about that, but very glad to hear everything worked out. I need to get on the SPF thing on a daily basis and not just for the beach or pool. The Florida sun don’t play. All the best man. -{

It seems that now that we're in the in between stage of films, it's natural that we focus on Craig's off screen style. Personally, I'm having a lot of fun with it! Canoe2, I agree that his off screen/real life ties would be fun to find alternatives for. Let's do it!

A few other items I'm currently looking for alternatives for if anyone finds anything:

    - The black Belfast leather jacket with the zipper on the chest
    - The navy blue satin bomber jacket
    - The brown Tom Ford leather jacket he wore for a lot of the Spectre tv press stuff
    - Zegna Tech Merino sweater (Spectre press)

Would also be great to go through all of his flat caps and find alternatives for each
