For those that are ordering a harrington perhaps you can send Luigi a message similar to this:

Luigi, very excited about this opportunity. There has been quite a bit of discussion on and off the Bond threads around how much work Simon has put into this project from inception to today. Would there be any way that TF could provide some sort of consideration for his diligence and inspiration? Perhaps a gratis jacket or the prototype as both a memento and a gesture for culling so many interested parties and spending so much time making this potential come to life....

Will do, thank you for your help Mr. Mantis!
Alternatively, I'm more than happy to pay an extra EUR40.
This is the least we can do to thank Simon for making this possible.

There is a rumor that Simon's next project is the Casino Royale Armani leather jacket :)

Yes, but at $4000 for the Armani, I will pass and wait for Ross's replica. Rather see if Simon could talk Converse into re-releasing the Jack Purcell OTRs.

EON got the jackets at cost. I am sure we will be full retail.

Been away for a bit and what have I come back to, very kind posts from you all! I had spoken to TF about keeping the prototype but they want it back and I then enquired about some kind of discount given the size/value of this order and the work it took to get us here but was told no, so Im just a bit disenamoured with the whole thing now.

Have been asked about Next projects, it was going to be a TF one spearheaded by The Mantis but unsure if that will happen now. As for Armani and Dior Im afraid I dont see either of those ever hapenning.

Yeah, I would say blissfully we have kept this board a bit shielded from the discussions with TF around this project as of late, but the next one that I discussed with Luigi is/was to do a run of the CORRECT QoS navy polo....but suffice to say my enthusiasm has been cooled.

And it's generous of people to want to pitch in for Simon, but to me this was really about a small consideration from a company that we have driven considerable revenue to...

    @ DZ.
Could you ask your contact at TF again about the free jacket for Simon.

Alternatively, I suggest that we collect cash to fund one free jacket for Simon as said before

I've done my payment and forwarded my shipping address and tag text to Luigi.

Unfortunately he hasn't replied to my email from 2 days ago.
I have advised him to NEVER send .doc files to unknown email addresses or to receive them back.
That's the way virusses are spread.

I had sent my email request around Simon to Luigi a day ago....
  • CommandantCommandant Posts: 1,368MI6 Agent
We should ask Simon to email us his paypal account.
We can then contribute to his Harrington jacket

No, someone must take care of this and chase down those who haven't paid.
Otherwise you are getting 4 payments and the remaining people sneak out silently.

I too am awaiting a reply from Luigi. I agree that he may have had a couple days off.

This thread certainly gets busy while I waste my nights sleeping. :))

I think he meant in the case of if we all "chipped in" scenario, then someone would have to take charge so that its fair

    No. I'll try to explain:

If we let everyone pay EUR 40,-- to Simon's PP account, there will only be a handful of people doing that.

Someone must take the lead and collect the funds and remind those continuously who haven't paid their share.

My two cents is I am not comfortable soliciting donations from people....if people are compelled, that's one thing...just like if they are compelled to contact TF (which I think should be the default)....

    I agree with this.

If you mandate an additional charge of 40 euros per customer, on top of shipping / tax / and import fees, you will see a mass drop of orders, and if 50 orders are not hit, then guess what... no one gets a jacket.

I'm all for supporting Simon, backing him up and appreciating his efforts, but does this cold response from TF REALLY surprise people? A major corporation immersed in one of the seven deadly sins? Namely greed.

    I'm hardly shocked.

That would be great if there was a QoS polo project, buuut...I understand if you guys are disenchanted and don't wish to move forward with it.

These burning bridges won't affect the harrington orders, will they? I was just about to place mine.

No burning of bridges...just venting to a group of sympathetic brothers... :007)

It is unfortunate that they fail to see the profit that Bond films/ fans generate for them...let me rephrase that...it is unfortunate that they fail to APPRECIATE the profit that we bring them.

That being said, I'm secretly hoping the QoS polo project still happens. I would probably buy a couple of them.

The fact is that Bond really helped promote the Tom Ford brand across the globe. A very shrewd piece of business.
If I take myself as an example. I have many shirts, every pair of Bond sunglasses, ties, all the TF Q of S, Skyfall and Spectre items and even 7 of his fragrances... And Mrs R has sunglasses, fragrances and make up.
I havent much from any other designer unless Bond related.
But to what is now a giant corporation, our small hobby is just a very small piece of an enormous machine.
The care I have received from TF London and Milan has always been exemplary. And thats probably all we can expect from such a big corporation.

I've just received a response from Luigi.

I've again suggested that Simon should receive the prototype or a free jacket - I mean who is a better ambassador for the brand??

I'm still in with paying EUR 40,-- towards Simon's jacket {[]

Without getting into specifics I did want to let everyone know that TF has extended a significant gesture of appreciation. I am very happy with their response and further excited about this project moving forward, and hopefully more in the future.

That's great to hear Simon. I'm happy that you're happy. Feel free to share more if and when you can.
