Oddly enough I was at a wedding recently and missed the speeches while I was entertaining mini minigeff. When I came back to the table it was littered with photos of Rolf Harris.

Not sure I quite 'got the gag' or even if there was one. Still confused by the whole do tbh.

Didgeridon't even go there with the Harris puns, not exactly ROFL material. The organisers might have been on the wobble, or board or just a bit dum-a-dee-a-doo-doo-dee.

    Binge-watching Ronald Howard's Sherlock Holmes after I finished binge-watching Geoffrey Whitehead's Sherlock Holmes :D

Both series are fantastic and the Whitehead series was only released completely last February in quite good quality.

Patrick Newell is hilarious as Lestrade. Pickering may well be my favourite Dr. Watson. The trio has great chemistry.

Sherlock Holmes, cinematic and TV, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are a passion of mine.

Of the modern day version of the greatest detective that ever lived, do you prefer "Sherlock" or "Elementary"?
  • BondJasonBond006BondJasonBond006 SwitzerlandPosts: 870MI6 Agent
I like Elementary for what it is. Big Lucy Liu fan here! And big Jonny Lee Miller fan too. Eli Stone is one of my favourite cult shows.

But in the Sherlock universe it will come somewhere at a special place, it's just too different and not comparable with Sherlock Cumberbatch. If I would rank all the different tv shows Elementary would be very hard to rank.

Overall my favourite Sherlock actor is Jeremy Brett. But to be honest, I almost like them all very much. It's a bit like with Bond, I love Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (and Lestrade) no matter who is playing them.

I have watched some Jermy Brett-episodes on Youtube and I really like his interpretation. At first I liked "Sherlock" a lot, I loved the modern version of the classical character. But after a while it became to fantastic and unrealistic and I now prefer the American Elementary. In a way it's more European than "Sherlock".
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
Although not an expert on Sherlock Holmes. I love the character and have watched
him in all the many variations over the years. I love " Sherlock ", I think it's superbly
well written and acted, as well as being sublimely stylish. Elementary as Jason has
said is a very different beast, but I still love it too. :)

there is a thread for all things Sherlock.

Yeah I didn't quite get it, I came back to the table and asked Mrs Geff what the deal was, it was a joke of some description but the last thing I wanna see my kids looking at is a photo of a convicted pedo.

    Anyway, each unto their own.

It's no doubt one of those 'mad season' August filler stories that the media is littered with at this time of year.

I just read that North Korea's entire GDP is only half of the sum Americans spend on their pets. It says something about prioriteres, but what? I'm sure the Americans get much more joy out of their pets than the Koreans get out of their rockets and atomic bombs.

I honestly believe that China will keep him under control, perhaps a term of illness followed by
A change of leader might happen. ........ Nothing sinister, merely a coincidence. ;)
