A new Doctor Who 50th anniversary adventure will bring together "all the surviving Doctors," plus a number of their original companions, according to writer and director Nicholas Briggs. Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann are explicitly confirmed for the 100 minute audio story The Light at the End. The remaining Doctors Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and incumbent Matt Smith are "behind the project". Due for release in November, the audio production comes as a standard two-disc pack, as well as a limited edition five-disc set, complete with two hour-long documentaries plus an extra adventure, The Revenants, performed by William Russell, star of the very first Doctor Who TV story.

A special one-off drama about the creation of Doctor Who has been commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary. An Adventure in Space and Time will tell the story of the genesis of the BBC sci-fi show in the early 1960's. The 90 minute drama will air on BBC Two next year. Writer Mark Gatiss, "This is the story of how an unlikely set of brilliant people created a true television original."
Mark Gatiss has revealed that David Bradley will portray the first Doctor William Hartnell in his dramatisation on the making of Doctor Who. Bradley recently appeared as Solomon, a ruthless trader and collector, in the Doctor Who episode Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.
News on Matt Smith, he is to make his US acting debut in a film written and directed by Ryan Gosling. The name of Smith's character has yet to be confirmed, according to Variety he will play the male lead. The film, How To Catch A Monster, will weave "fantasy noir, horror and suspense into a modern day fairytale".
The new issue of Radio Times (on sale Tuesday) has eight exclusive collectable postcards featuring some of the Time Lords most iconic appearances on the cover of the magazine. Ben Stephenson, the BBC's Controller of Drama Commissioning has announced, "As part of the BBC's blockbuster celebrations to mark the Doctor turning 50, fans will be able to see the Time Lord and his adventures like never before - in 3D!" To be broadcast using some of the BBC's HD capacity.

New revelations regarding my favourite Doctor, Jon Pertwee. He was a senior intelligence agent during the Second World War and reported directly to Winston Churchill. He also worked alongside Ian Fleming, who recommended him for another role - and proved to be an expert in using a range of 007 like gadgets, including a smoking pipe that fired bullets and handkerchiefs that contained secret maps. Pertwee said he kept silent about the nature of his covert role with the Naval Intelligence Division for decades for fear of breaching the Official Secrets Act. The revelations come in a long lost tape recorded interview he gave in 1994 to two young reporters.

Don't believe too much in that. Pertwee was well known for exaggerating the truth and even downright BS to give a good story. He was a great storyteller and very well known for exactly this type of thing.

Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman have spoken to The Sun at a preview screening for the new series. Smith thinks he is not handsome enough to be James Bond but reckons he could be a Bond villain on the camp/dangerous side.
According to The Sun, Matt Smith is set to bow out as the Doctor in this year's Christmas Special. Smith's contract is understood to expire in November but he doesn't want it renewed, preferring instead to follow his ambition to crack Hollywood. Sources say bosses already have an idea of who they want to replace him.
David Tennant and Billie Piper will appear in the 50th anniversary special, the BBC has confirmed. Filming on the show, which will also star John Hurt, starts next week.

Tonights Doctor Who was like something from The Sarah Jane Adventures or some other such CBBC programme, very disappointed, let's hope it gets better! I hope Matt retires from the role soon though, I am bored of him.
As for Tennant and Piper returning I imagine it will be the half-human Doctor from Pete's World rather than the doctor crossing timelines with himself, don't get me wrong, it's great that he will be a part of it but some people seem to think that David Tennant is the be-all and end-all of Doctor Who. I want to see Mcgann and Eccleston get some more recognition!
The Zygons are returning for the 50th anniversary special. Aside from flashbacks these malevolent shape-shifters have only appeared once before, threatening Earth in the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) adventure, Terror of the Zygons.
