Ok, back to some research advice...I'm hunting the numbered switch caps for the Goldeneye door device-(in addition to the lettered ones for the DAF voice changer). Seems like I am in switch cap hell these days!! If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. I can supply **** research if necessary! :D :D

There are a couple of issues with this that make things difficult. First, it is a telephone layout (1,2,3 across the top instead of the bottom) and second numbers only, no letters and finally only 1-9, no zero, * or #. If you watch this thing in operation the keys do move when hit so they do not appear to be just glued onto a black background.

This is as close as I could find to the original but it is a 12 key pad so you would need to remove the fourth row of keys.

This is a SparkFun unit, but shown as back ordered on their website.

    Hope this helps.

Yeah, thats the right part. You take the unit to bits and remove the 4th row. Its not rocket science to do this.

Hi guys. I need a decent 3 axis DRO, the full system. Anyone suggest a good UK supplier or should i buy from China via ebay? Only UK systems i can find are around the 500quid mark, which imo, is a rip off for what it does. Any help or advice would be great. Cheers, MG

Hey Guys! Finally got back on the door opening device from Goldeneye and figured since props have been missing from the forum for a while I'd solicit some more advice. Anyone have a rear view of the device? Not sure if it is simply a modified rear of the tiger handheld or something more sophisticated. As for the front, what have you guys used to make the faceplate coverings-I am messing with resin, but wonder if there are better alternatives. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Forget resin, just go with thick plasticard, print your accurate design on self adhesive paper, stick it on and sit in front of the telly with a small hand file for a couple of nights. Very theraputic and satisfying.

Taking your advice! Now I just have to get that telly time...Thanks for giving me an excuse for sitting in front of the tube! Now just need to see the back of this thing.

Hi. I'm new to the forum. I am marrying a James Bond superfan. He's a big fan of the movies, but his true love is the books. Our wedding is September 8th and we are having a Bond themed reception. We have been taking lessons for a choreographed dance to John Barry's instrumental version of "You Only Live Twice." My groom will be wearing a Magnoli tuxedo from Casino Royale. We have many Bond elements to our special day.

As a wedding gift, I'd like to get him something unique. I've seen the official merchandise from Omego and St. DuPont. I'm not sure if real fans value those items or if there is something else I should be looking for that will mark the occasion appropriately. I figured I'd come to the best source I've seen on the web so far.

Any suggestions/advice/helpful sites are greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!

Casino Royale seems to be one of his favourites, so the ST Dupont 5244 may be the right things to go for:

And for the wedding night, you may want to surprise him with the GP swimming trunks:

Oooh, bit tricky this one but happy to help out.

First up, are you in the states or the uk? Or elsewhere?

I think it's a bit tricky really cos us fans vary so much. Buy me a screen used prop for instance and I'd wet myself, get me them swimming trunks and I'd use em as an oily rag in the workshop.

I think we need to know his favourite book or film first and then we can suggest more specific ideas.

One thing that springs to mind, if he smoked is a dunhill unique lighter, got the bond wedding connection there as well as being a prominent prop.

    Congratulations by the way,

    MG

Thanks everyone for the suggestions so far.

He loves Casino Royale and Dr. No. I think he really enjoys Daniel Craig as Bond, and cannot wait for Skyfall.

I have to confirm his favorite book - I want to say On Her Majesty's Secret Services (is that the one where the first 100 or so pages do not have Bond featured at all?), but I'm not sure...

We are here in the US.

I'll write more when I can pry more information from him!

    Thanks again!

I do love the cufflinks - but can only seem to find them in the full set, which is $7900, which is a bit out of my price range. Any ideas on how to get those cufflinks? Thanks!

If you're in the states, how about a p99?

You could look for a Danbury mint 1/24 db5 model (CR and classic bond connection) or as something cute, contact resident prop guru Ed (thefudds@aol.com) and see if he's got any CR keyring bombs for sale.

Steer clear of the Argentinian stuff on ebay, it's total crap.

Another idea is the silver money clip, or what about some cartmundi cards and chips? I know the little things might not be much on their own, so how about making up a big bundle of stuff, gives a personal touch then instead of one simple item bought off the shelf as it were.

    Jbellsy,

these cufflinks are a little more affordable and are also worn in some of the Montenegro scenes by Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. Personally, I love them.

Everyone, you've been so helpful so far, thanks again!

I did find out that Brad's favorite book is From Russia With Love.

He had a hard time picking his favorite movie, but did say Casino Royale, Goldfinger, and Dr. No.

He does not smoke, so I do not think the lighters would be good, although they are snazzy! He is not a collector - he would never dream of spending money on himself like that. I want to get him something that he will open and say wow and will know exactly what it is. That's what I'm after.

Suggestions so far are great, and I'm definitely considering them. Just thought I'd share some additional information. Thanks!!
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
Have you considered a special commission made by someone here?

Ajb is home to many cool replica prop makers, you could ask them to contact you if a prop would be appropriate. I'm too busy myself but I'm sure there's a few others who could do stuff for you.

With CR and DN having few props, I'd say a GF homing device or similar would be cool. A private commission would also be totally unique and a nice personal touch.

    Hope this helps
