    Not at all unlikely.

After all, Adele has shown a wont of patriotism, not appearing for the Jubilee Concert. Whereas, of course, Rolf has shown his true colours.

Over in another thread there's a link to an article regarding leaked storyboards. Below the article is a bunch of comments that says not only is Adele working on a theme, but Noel Gallagher is too?

I know that Gallagher joked that if he could do the theme tune, he'd let DC play him in his film about his life, and Gallagher has expressed a vague interest, but until this random comment, not heard anything more.

So has anyone else heard of gallagher's involvement in making a SF theme?

Oh Gallagher is the master of self publicity, take it with a pinch of salt. All the stuff he's been involved in, or asked to do but he had to turn down, from Strictly Come Dancing to the X Factor... 8-)

I am going to take a punt… go out on a limb… go out on a huge, huge limb here and say…

    -{ -{ -{ Noel Gallagher WILL be doing the theme for Skyfall. -{ -{ -{

Adele is by comparison a Johnny Come Lately and all too predictable.
We've had Chris Cornell, we've had Jack White and Alicia Keys…
    Think about it...
This is the 50th Anniversary of the world's biggest film franchise… an essentially British production, nay a British institution (much like Mr. Gallagher and Oasis - of old).

Note the date, note my bravery, note my blind hope, note my notes.

I honestly hope, with hand on nads, and with the cry of a loud 'kanaseesometitsonthascreeeeenplease?!' that this is the case.

I doubt it'll happen but how cool would that be, DC opening the olympics with Noel Gallagher blasting out in the background?

Actually, thats probably the only thing that would make me watch it.

You've all missed the obvious clue, provided in the Jubilee Concert.

It's a Tom Jones-Shirley Bassey duet with Paul McCartney on keyboards and bass. (I'd say he'd be singing but compared with those two.... lets says his voice isn't, erm, his strongest asset.)

50th Anniversary. Three of the biggest names in Bond music. A done deal. ;)

You forget Sir Paul is closing the Opening Cermony with the song that never ends ' Hey Jude' ... He'll still be ' na na na naaaaahhhh ing ' when the Bond premier comes along :)) :))

Duran Duran are involved somewhere, too, at the Olympics, aren't they?

So, queue "DANCE INTO THE FIYERRRR", and an appearance by Sir Rog, liver spots and all. Bit like in '85 then. (and '73 come to that).

PS - besides the obvious blarring out of the Bond theme, how will the audience recognise DC as Bond.....? :))

If there was a mild earthquake they might recognise DC from QOS. :))

That's a fine way to describe one of the best singers of all time! X-(

There's no one better suited to the job than Dame Shirley Bassey. She IS the voice of James Bond themes. She is just as much part of the success story of the James Bond franchise as any Bond actor. Given that this is the 50th anniversary movie, why not get her to do one again? Clearly, she still has the immense talent and terrific voice. It would be a damn shame to let this opportunity pass. Dame Shirley is 75 years old this year, and while I hope that she'll continue singing for many years to come ... no one can live forever.

Prince: he can still rock, groove, sway and croon. Apart from a select track or two, I wasn't a big fan of his contributions to Burton's Batman but i'm sure he has one great classic Bond tune to contribute to a 007 film. Diamonds and Pearls is the 80s Bond theme that never was.

Noel Gallagher: i've been a huge fan of Oasis since the 90s. Gallagher senior has shown his versatility over the years when given enough creative control and this is especially the case with his recent debut solo album which has elements of jazz, lounge and psychedelic rock. There's definitely a 007 song in there somewhere.

Neil Finn: again, another versatile artist with a wide musical and vocal range. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3T4kyPI0Ac

Sting: pretty obvious choice and a surprisingly overlooked vocalist for a Bond film.

Adele: once again, another obvious choice and the reasons above I agree with.

Amy Winehouse: there's got to be a post humourous track in the vaults just waiting to be applied to a 007 title sequence.

Aloe Blacc: smooth and suave, just what's needed for a 007 film.

There have been black singers for Bond, but none so far male. Just noticed that.

Tech Nine's "Who do I catch now" Would make a great Bond theme, i think its time we had a hiphop/rap Bond theme for a change imo.

So now that filming is completed and it's moved to post production, I wonder how much longer before we get an announcement as to who will sing the title track. Anybody remember when the announcement was made for QoS?

Do you think the song will be called Skyfall and use the title in the lyrics? I hope so, as the past 2 films didn't do that.

I'm a songwriter, and I could have quite easily used the titles quantum of solace and casino royale in songs. (I'm not showing off, I'm just saying that it's extremely do-able). So I hope we have a return to tradition and have a song called Skyfall.

This has not happened since DAD (Yes I know, awful song, but that's just a coincidence tbh)

After the raucous vocals of the last two songs, Skyfall needs a soothing and sexy female voice. So that means NO Adele.

I really, really hope the new theme is better than another way to die (quantum of solace). That song was horrific in every way possible, and was not only an insult to bond, but an insult to music in general.

I agree that QoS song didn't work for me. I mean I love Keys, and was expecting a Bondian ballard with brass etc, but what we got just didn't cut the mustard.
A huge brass piece, a la Shirley is what is needed IMO.
  • BlackleiterBlackleiter Washington, DCPosts: 5,615MI6 Agent
Agree 100% It's a shame they didn't just let Alicia Keys compose and belt out a soulful theme song, because I think she's a good singer/songwriter. But she didn't blend well with Jack White, and Another Way to Die is a strangely non-melodic tune.

Another way to die wasn't bond-like whatsoever. I've been listening to a lot of the bond songs on youtube lately, and another way to die just doesn't fit with the others. It is, for me, by far the worst of all the bond songs. I used to think that die another day was the worst, but at least it sounds somewhat bond-like, and the tune is somewhat memorable. So that's now my second least favourite bond song instead, with another way to die at rock bottom.

To be honest, I expect the skyfall song to be better than another way to die - even if it's still bad. I mean, it's just not possible for it to be worse than it! :))

(Yeah, I REALLY hate that song lol)

I LOVE Another Way To Die and I find it perplexing when people claim it's 'un-Bondlike'....it's one of my fav Bond themes...
