How about a Plot Device that has not been used in the Series before? Like Bond getting framed for the Assassination of a Foreign Diplomat and having to clear his Name?

Wasn't that sort of done in QOS, where he was framed for killing the minister? I know that plot line wasn't handled very well, but that was, unfortunately, typical of the movie. Many potentially interesting ideas handled in a sloppy fashion.

It's a wee bit like the plot of Batman Forever though isn't it? :#

No the Riddler was sucking brain waves out of people using a device attached to their TV sets. My idea not so fanciful - I would even extend the idea into manipulating Social Media such as Facebook and Twitter.

I like the idea of a blackmailer who gathers information on politicians and famous people. The villian blackmailing M would make an interesting Plot device.

The problem with basing any plot idea involving the criminal use of the internet or the villain using blackmail is that in an action film genre like the Bond films they have to result in action set pieces. SF used the villains mastery of the internet to intimidate and eventually attempt the killing of M, so unless their is another more violent purpose outside a blackmail or internet plot, you're left with scenes of actors staring at computer monitors cut with scenes of what's on the monitors.

Bond films are about action as much as about spying, his adventures need to involve physical challenges, even though so much of intel today involves computers and satellites and drones with cameras.

For example, giving Bond a villain he must actually assassinate by sniping in the pre-credits sequence, but then being discovered and having to escape would make up a good action scene, but then we discover that his target turns out to actually be an imposter/double and that the villain is a master of disguise gives one a physical as well as emotional story. Bond not only has to deal with creating a strategy for the assassination and escape, he then has to deal with the emotional turmoil of learning he has failed to kill the real villain and that perhaps the double he killed turns out to be a duped innocent.

With this kind of scenario, one can than bring in a plot involving the use of the internet or blackmail. For example, the villain was targeted because he is using the net to blackmail someone in charge of shipping nuclear or bio weapons...or because he is using the net to gather information that would somehow threaten Great Britains security.

Given all that, the trick will be to come up with a plot that won't involve the use of the internet at all, or one that will relegate it's use to a very small degree, so it doesn't seem as though it's in any way similar to the way it was used in SF.

On the whole Master of Disguises Idea, I would like to see a Villain who is an Actor but wants to pull off a devious Scheme of grand Proportions. His Knowledge of Makeup and Costume would come in handy to him.

Though the idea of using a criminal masquerading as another villain by using a disguise was used in LALD, it was not really exploited. Having a villain who turned out to be an actor (though the villain was actually just a media fiction) was a clever plot device in the last Iron Man film. I liked how Silva masqueraded as law enforcement to escape in SF. It would be something totally unique if the a future villain used many disguises (ala Sherlock Holmes/Ethan Hunt) to fulfill his scheme, keeping Bond and MI6 guessing throughout the film.

Another would be two use TWO villains working together, perhaps twins.
Another would be to have one brother being the evil one and the other
a weaker, emotional character manipulated by the darker one (or blackmailed).

The trick with future plots of the series is to give us classic, twisted villains, but without being like weak or direct copies of heavies from the old films. For example, Greene was not really a classic villain, nor the villains from TLD. Silva was - even if he had traces of the Joker and Hannibel Lector. So was
Le Chiffre with his bleeding eye and inhaler. Fleming gave his villains off kilter quirks, as writers do with super villains in comic books. Physical deformities, strength, over/under size physiques, obsessions. Goldfinger - everything he wore or owned had to have gold in it. Things that would be another affect that further eroded the their personality and helped to create their evil character. Even someone like Red Grant - a killer with an oversized, wrestler physique with a preference for strangling as opposed to just shooting his victims.

My ideas reminded me of one of my favorite murder mysteries - The List of Adrian Messenger. The villains demise in the end is a grisly one - something that Fleming might have written.

Villain being an actor? Using disguises? Alter-ego brother?

    Sounds familiar....

Hello friends, new to the site here. First post.

I would really like to see Bond in a winter environment. The last three Bond films have been very visually appealing and I think some harsh winter environments would keep that ball rolling. I don't want to see bond on anything with two wheels. I wouldn't mind seeing some other double 0's too. That would add some fresh plot lines to the film for sure.

Good to have you, Lee John. I am one of those who would also like to see Bond in the snow on skis again. A well put together ski chase (a la On Her Majesty's Secret Service) is always exciting.

Nice idea about seeing some fellow 00 agents. When was the last time that happened? TLD?

Never read any post Fleming novels except for Colonel Sun. Tried one of
the other authors, but I just could not accept Bond being in any other time period
other than between CR and the Amis novel. Apologies if my plot seemed similar to one of those.

They don't have to really even film it, an entire ski scene can be cheaply done in CGI now....

Having Bond skiing/climbing in Canada would be different. They could take some of the plot from FYEO where Bond meets with a RCMP officer in the Ottawa HQ and goes sniping.

    Just saw this headline:

British sniper's bullet took out suicide bomber, Taliban insurgents.

My brain snaps to a scene of Bond in meeting in M's office.

    M. "See this headline Bond?" (Terrorists Blown Up By Own Bomb)

    Bond - "Yes sir".

    M. - "According to your report, the bullet from your rifle missed
your target, hit the detonating switch to a bomb nearby which
resulting in the deaths of eight other men who were not sanctioned
to be elimnated. Eight men who, as it turns out, were either terrorists
or weapon smugglers or professional killers."

    Bond - "Yes, sir."

    M. - "Well 007, after the official inquiry, I've decided that you need to be sent
to the sniping range for the next week or so to improve your aim.
    Any questions?"

Bond - "No, sir. Thank you, sir. Is that all?"

    M. smiling mischievously - "Yes 007, thats all".

Bond turns his back to M. and grins slightly as he heads out of the office.

Could be good. Bond and the RCMP may be ordered to shoot terrorist who want to bomb a oil pipline near a major waterway. Preferably the scene should involve a spectacular ski/snowmobile chase.
but to be honest, Norway would be even better ;)
