In terms of how it looks on-screen, you have nailed it.
The H&M blazer and Banana Republic Kentfield are what I went with. Here is a comparison and a quick Fit pick to show the colors (my sleeves are artificially tucked as they are too long and need to get them tailored):

    IMG_8692.jpg

    IMG_8709.jpg

    Obviously, still putting this outfit together, but I couldn't agree with Canoe2 more. It's all about getting the right ratio between the pants and the jacket. The BR Kentfields are about as spot on as it gets color wise, and the H&M is the closest I've ever seen to the SA color of the BC jacket. But, the H&M blazer seems a little darker, so there is some room to choose the pants accordingly. The jacket is fantastic and is a slim fit. It's lined unfortunately, but seeing as I need to get the sleeves done, I may see about unlining it. Never unlined a jacket before. If anyone has any advice, that would be greatly appreciated. -{

Thanks Cheverian! HalfMonk HalfHitman called it the difference between "Screen Accurate" (SA) and "On Screen Accurate" (OSA), which I think sums it up perfectly. I agree, the H&M blazer does give a good OSA look. For me, the harringbone pattern is not an issue and is subtle, but it is there, so some may not like that.

Here are some budget watch alternatives. I know some people hate on watches like this but these are some good alternatives for most of us I would say.

I'm a big fan of the Mossimo basic t shirts from Target. Athletic fit and they hug the arms nicely. These always get a great review over at dappered.com. Just picked up a charcoal one for $9 and I think the color and fit closely resemble the one we've seen D.C. wearing. I also own a couple of the lighter grey ones which are great for the CR Venice look.

Thanks John. I actually hate that pic :)) I think I look like an idiot in it. I just wanted to help out armenianmovieman, and that was the only pic I had on hand. All I need is the tie and a new NATO strap (my boy eats mine and now it smells to hell), and I'll put up a pic of the complete outfit worthy of the IA gallery.

New post from armenianmovieman is now live! He looks at alternatives for the Skyfall Adidas Gazelles:

    http://www.iconicalternatives.com/2016/11/24/james-bond-skyfall-adidas-gazelle-2/

James Brosnan: No problem! I'll wait for your other pic

BladeRunner684: That Debert looks like an interesting option! Looked around and I think the price is about $105, which is pretty good. Nice find!

    drum007: That'll work for sure!

I was just thinking, what might not be a bad idea for Iconic Alternatives... post the actual price of the item we're trying to find an alternative to. Reminds us why we're seeking an alternative or maybe make some people go "you know what... it's really not that much more. I'll spring for the real deal"
Plus, it'd be kinda funny for some of craig's $3000 jackets.

I usually try to include the retail price of the original in the post, but I'll work at being more consistent. Sometimes the price isn't easy to find, especially on older items. And yes, sometimes the "sticker shock" of what he wore can be a little overwhelming. :s

It's not even close to being in the same vicinity as SA by any stretch (it's navy for a start 8-) ), but AEO have a possible, maybe, frugal shawl cardigan alternative in their black friday sale, you can pick one up for £36 with free shipping with the code CHRISTMAS:

It just kind of stays on the right side of a homage as opposed a straight up copy, but sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel and the venerable miyota movement make it a decent buy. I'm a little put off by the lollipop second hand and the Chronometer wording on the face.....a bit misleading I'm my opinion, but reasonable value and should tell the time well enough.

I usually stay away from the homages. I got burnt badly with an Alpha watch. The quality was so bad. But, that damn Debert just looks awesome and looks like a decent quality for the price. If a little extra money comes my way this christmas, I'll probably end up grabbing one. Great find.

Heads up: the Florsheim Constable Chukka, which is canoe2's budget choice for the Church Ryders is going for $82 today, Black Friday. One day only though.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I'm constantly on the fence about watches like this. I got a rotary aquaspeed, and the darn thing broke after a few months (second hand just clicks in place). I've had my Invicta Pro Diver for over 3 years now, and that thing is still going strong. I have yet to try Seiko, but given the Bond connection and the rave reviews, in almost to the point that I only want to get Seiko watches as my frugal alternatives. I've heard some people say that it's better to get a quality watch that Bond would wear that doesn't necessarily look exactly like the SA one and has its own style. But, those darn SA details rope me in every time. However, I think I might be coming over to the other side.

Thanks for posting this. As great as this watch looks I think I'm going to stick with my Seiko seems like a better deal.

Big fan of Bulova here. The one on the left has been my daily driver for 15-20 years and it's still going strong!

Sorry to interrupt the watch discussion, but our Reader Appreciation Contest is now LIVE!!!

    http://www.iconicalternatives.com/2016/11/26/first-anniversary-reader-appreciation-contest/

Thanks again for all the support while I've been building this thing. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it! {[]

Hope you guys like the prize packages!

And entered in the contest, Sir. {[]

Thanks for taking on the challenge of keeping up with frugal Bond items.

I've ordered the cardigan from UO in small and medium and will report on the fit when they arrive.

Now back to the watch discussion... :D :p :))

I will also chime in on getting a Seiko. Great quartz and automatic timepieces. The automatics such as the skx007 are easily modded, so you can get a dial or bezel ring more "Bondish" if you so choose.

I have this Rotary on a Nato kindly supplied by a fellow ABJer - managed to get it for £110 but note they have put the price up - it gets lots of comments, automatic movement as well.
