Nice to hear some good news coming out of the Bond camp, hasn't been much lately. Maybe it's a good omen of things to come.

It's probably tabloid BS but I'm going to claim this one!

Well, getting poisoned by Russian agents is all the rage now...
In fact is too close to current conflict and too likely to causes offense.

I doubt Craig will do two more and I'm not sure I want to either.
An open-ended ending where Bond is nearly dead is very Fleming and I don't mind that.

Don't mind the cliff hanger but as it's all out of the bag already it seems a tad pointless. Much more important is that I really do not want two more from Daniel. Babs needs to move on and let the guy go. He's pushing it now but jeez Louise in another 3 years or so. Good God no. I don't think he would want to anyway,I don't think he wants to do this one. Hope that bit is tabloid noise.

IMO, if all of this tabloid nonsense were true about Bond dying, about 4 people would know about it, and the script pages given to the crew for that scene would be fake as to keep the secret, like the “I am your father” reveal in TESB. In other words, newspapers would not know about it a year and a half out...

I can't see any comment on here about Baz Bamigboye's latest small report on Bond25 in his Daily Mail column.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6116169/BAZ-BAMIGBOYE-New-Downton-Abbey-film-star-Jim-Carter-Imelda-Staunton.html

While confirming the 'Boyle quit because Hodge was out' theory, the worrying bit is this: "Tense situation behind the scenes, finding a director prepared to be ruled over by Mr Craig."

I think the fact that some newspapers were writing stories based on that supposed Reddit source BS shows that some tabloid journalists are scouring online communities for Bond gossip and turning that into stories.

Alas they haven't found my excellent Bond25/Bond26 hypothesis yet. Very disappointing... :))

If Bond kicks the bucket in Bond 25 we can look forward to some fine 'dying' acting from Mr Craig. ;)
"Erghgh.. M... I've been shot... (long dramatic pause).... erghh.... no hope for me. Leave me, M. I need to be alone... to milk this scene for all it's... urhhh... worth!"

A tabloid in Finland reports that Debbie MacWilliams is looking for Scandinavian actors for Bond25, both male and female. She has Screentesteded about twenty so far. At least that's how I interpret Google Translate's version of what's in the newspaper Ilta-Sanomat.

Diehard fan for 40 years. I always try to stay optimistic about Bond productions. I mean...really...try.

However, if any of this is even slightly true, allowing for tabloid distortion, we might be about to get another hastily written, unevenly produced movie. QoS 2

The fact that DC was included in the names on the announcement of Boyle's departure is telling. Suggestive.

Easy to dislike that actor. Really, too easy, actually. He's done some great work with Bond, but if they've given him some kind of veto on the script on this one (maybe not the first time, which might explain the missteps in some of the other movies after CR) then my enthusiasm for this one will drop like a stone.

Many fabulous writers would give their right arm to write a Bond script. Many fantastic directors would be capable of turning in a solid box office performing, fan pleasing, general audience satisfying, movie.

Wow, it hasn't taken much for the "blame" to be pushed on Craig for all this. A couple articles in the tabs based on nothing and the bulls eye is clearly on Daniel Craig. Unfortunately, people still get taken in by that "tabloid mentality" where everything is black and white with no room for the nuances of fact. EON also appears to be in a loose / loose situation. They will get slagged if the film is delayed and they will get slagged if the film is on time because it will be assumed to be a rushed, shoddy, production. All things considered, the only way now for EON to stop the bleeding would be for some kind of official announcement of a game plan for Bond 25.....release date, director, writer, script, etc.

The only way to silence the negativity is to make a good film. The situation leading up to Casino Royale comes to mind. It was all very black until the film was widely well-received by critics and fans alike. Overnight, Craig went from too-short blonde misfit to the best Bond since Connery. I’m not saying they need to make a film as good as Casino Royale. Just something better than Spectre.

The ambivalence about DC isn't anything new. It's been around for years. Some fans like him. Some don't.

As I say, I think he has done some fantastic work. But whenever there's even a sniff of suspicion that an actor is even partly responsible for delaying a project in a franchise, the knives will come out.

The "slash my wrists" comment might have been clever negotiating. But it certainly annoyed lots of loyal fans.

Didn't annoy me, I thought it was just a regrettable response to a stupid question that was blown completely out of proportion and has been massively taken out of context and misquoted.

I’m sorry but the question of will you do another was in no way stupid. I agree it’s been taken out of context and blown far out of proportion. But it was a fair question and he gave a ridiculous answer.

Agreed, he's been in the game long enough to know the potential repercussions of saying something like that once it ends up in print.

In the context of what we're seeing now, it looks like he might have been setting up a future negotiating position, knowing that he was going to be asked by BB if he really did want to do another one. "I don't care, but come and ask me later if you want. and we'll see how I feel about it"

If it was that, he got what he wanted. A position from where he could have creative control over the ending of the project for which he will always be remembered.

Do you people really not have anything else to discuss?
Reports about location hunt in Namibia, Baz comment, screentests of actors in Finland...
Doesn't seem to interest anyone. Instead you bicker yet again about Craig and and if it's all his fault, if you want him to return etc.
If I remember correctly (and I rarely do :D) it was set off when a member asked himself if Craig was behind the current crisis and by the time he pressed Send he had convinced himself it was.

Thanks for listening to me complaining :)

If this information is all current. Then it would suggest that elements of the production are still moving forward, which would then suggest that they are still working with a plot in mind, even if the shooting script is a little up in the air. This is positive if the information being reported post dates the sacking of Boyle. Only time will tell if it's accurate. Wasnt the a lot of speculation regarding Croatia before Spectre began shooting? That didn't come to pass. The problem is everything is speculation until verified. People are fixated on the sacking of Boyle and the conduct of Eon / Craig as the announcement of his dismissal is the last official news we have got. As soon as EON announce something regarding the status of Bond 25 people will start to get excited again. At the moment the Bond fanbase (and it's most loyal customers from a business perspective) are just feeling a little disheartened.

Hi, this is my first message to this forum.

About the cast scouts visit in Finland. Ilta-Sanomat tabloid says it is very rare thing that we get that level casting people to visit Finland. Now it seems that Debbie McWilliams has met in two days time at least twenty three Finnish actors/actresses. It might be 28.

I do have my thumbs up for success.

Well, there is not so many Finns on big international movies. Samuli Edelman on MI: Ghost Protocol. He had nicely screentime. Someone has been an dead body, other as a doorstopper :-) Latest is Jasper Pääkkönen in Spike Lees BlacKkKlansman-movie.

This is nice forum, lots of things for us Bond fans.

    Welcome to the forum :007)
I hope you'll find AJB007.CO.UK interesting and friendly. There is one more member from Finland that I know of, he calls himself 0073.
Perhaps the casting in Finland is for the Russian man and woman (probably the villan and Bond girl)?

That's what I think is happening: they are working on the casting, location scouting etc. they think they will keep from the Hodge script. I the meantime they are looking for a new director. I wonder if they are continueing work on the script too or are they waiting for the new director to come a board?

I agree with you CC...I guess it was meant as a throwaway/jokey response that ended up misquoted...on purpose...

Do any of you think it's the Russian parts described in the casting call they are looking for in Finland?
Finn aren't of Slav descent or Russian-speaking, but they were a part of Russia for a long time, many are part of the Orthodox church and they don’t look very different from Russians.

It would of cource be nice if Finland is a location in the movie. There are some beautiful cities and if you want snowy pine forrest, Finland us the place to go.

It is also possible they may feel the Russian angle is too current and they may now being given a new nationality that allows them to lean in on the ex Soviet angle (as areas were ceded to the Soviets, post two wars between Russia and finland) without making them evil Russians.

To use a media term the viliians can still be coded russian without being actually russian.

That theory might work. There are areas that were part of Finland until 1944-45 that are now in Russia, such as the Petsamo/Petchhenga Valley to the far north.I think most of the civilians in those areas escaped west into the current Finland, but it's possible some stayed behind. There were a few Norwegian-speaking ethnic Norwegians living on the Cola peninsula until recently. Belive it or not there was a "Little Sweden" in Odessa on the Crimea peninsula! A few Finnish-Russians isn't unlikely.

I'm imagining a version of Alec Treveleyan's Cossack parents backstory but involving something around the Finnish Russian border in the 1940s.

Either that or something involving smuggling over the border.

If the Russian woman casting breakdown is for a Bond Girl rather than a henchwoman it would be interesting to see a Bond and XXX style team up.

I can see a scene calling back to the Q and Bond meeting in Skyfall regarding the power of hacking and the occasional need for a trigger to be pulled but regarding Russian agents. This Bond Girl could be their trigger woman.

Nb. this is a somewhat rambling post as I started writing with one idea and then that quickly spiralled out of my control. Apologies for the lack of cohesiveness.

Hopefully, despite the departure of Boyle, EON can "Keep Calm And Carry On" and deliver us a very good Bond film in fall 2019.
