I would like to see a slightly lighter Bond film. Not Moore light, but some plain fun moments would be nice. I loved the Paloma character in NTTD, it was a breath of fresh air. I smiled the entire time she was on camera. I could use more of that.

I have wanted, for quite some time, to see Bond lead a large scale raid on a villain's lair. An updated version of the GF Fort Knox scene, TB underwater battle, YOLT rappelling ninjas, or the mountain assault in OHMSS.

Return of the classic gun barrel.

Keep some glamour scenes. Men and women dressed elegantly is always visually interesting. I live vicariously through Bond, so give me some elegance.

My first experience with Bond was through the Fleming novels, so staying close to that character, but updated for the times is fine by me. Ruthless, womanizer, hard living, mission focused, and tough are just few traits I enjoy in Bond.

Simple straight forward mission assigned by M.

Those are just a few initial thoughts.

Tom Hardy, Simon Harris or Cillian Murphy. I prefer grittier, darker Bonds

Oh yes, couldn't agree more. While Craig has clearly been an asset particularly in commercial terms his 'special relationship ' has been too close, he has been too involved and too influential. Picking Directors and cast members has lead to some good outcomes (Paloma in particular was a highlight in the somewhat turgid NTTD)

    Enough now.

I just re-watched Kingsman: The Secret Service and noticed one of the screenwriters was one Jane Goldman. She's British and has among other things written two X-men movies, both Kingsmen, Miss Perregrine and the GoT prequel. The reason I suggest her as a Bond scriptwriter is of cource because I have a woke dream of women taking over everything and castrate all men, and not because she could being back more fun and adventure to Bond movies. Just so you know. 😁

the Kingsmen films certainly had more of the beloved elements of traditional Bond films, than did CraigBond's five films. If they just left out the zombie-movie style gross-out humour, they'd be a good substitute.

Her two X-Men films were the ones where the filmmakers went back in time and told the teams origins, in a slightly altered timeline...

...which is exactly what EON is going to need to do. Unless Bond26 is about a ZombieBond.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,702MI6 Agent

No, there's no reason to go back in time. I've mentioned timelines before and that's the way to go.

But I too think Goldman can deliver a Bond movie script that's closer to Moore/Brosnan in style if she cuts the gross-out humor.

I didn't know that. Good, maybe he can give her some good jokes for free.

I have no particular actor in mind other than he must be British or UK, younger than 35, able to fight convincingly, not conventionally good looking (i.e. NOT Henry Cavill), and able to appear cruel and menacing. White, Black, Asian, doesn't matter.

  • hcantrellhcantrell CharlottePosts: 170MI6 Agent

Honest question: What does it mean for someone to be "not conventionally good looking?" Aren't you either good looking or not? Or rather, what would you consider to be the qualities of someone traditionally good looking?

Someone who is conventionally good looking has the classic well-proportioned face, rather small nose and ears that fit close to the skull, i.e. George Clooney. An interestingly shaped nose adds character to the face, for example Javier Bardem.

Absolutely agreed, breaking into his bosses house twice, always going rogue, apparently even late for work sometimes. Daniel Craig is probably my favorite Bond but I hope whoever the next Bond is they're a better Mi6 employee.

While i can't speak for Bottled in Bond, I'd say Pierce Brosnan is conventionally good looking while Daniel Craig is unconventionally good looking.

    Many great points here.

Also, for the action: I hope that the action sequences take place in big populated spaces. Spectre had an empty chase through Rome, and a pretty meh snow plane chase, both of which kind of feel empty and boring.

Compare this to Casino Royale's Miami sequence, the Madagascar foot chase starting in a snake fight\busy construction zone going through a heavily populated\armed embassy, or even the Skyfall and Spectre PTS: vibrant, full of life, action, with heavily populated spaces that increase the suspense and tension.

Another example is Mission Impossible Fallout: IMO, while the Big Finale helicopter chase and cliffside fight is arguably the biggest stunt\sequence, the Solomon Lane jailbreak\motorcycle chase through Paris is way more entertaining, as our protagonists are reacting not just to the bad guys, but to many more elements out of their control: cops, traffic, civilian population.

But my main concern is Spectre. I hope they bring Spectre back, and early on in Bond 7's tenure.

Bond 26 is a solo mission, naturally, where Bond wins and survives, and in the next movie we see Spectre reeling and re-planning as we are introduced to Blofeld.

Oh, and this time the connection that Blofeld and Bond share can be similar to Heat as opposed to Austin Powers\Step Brothers.

Bond becomes genuinely impressed at Blofeld's schemes, and Blofeld is genuinely impressed/amused at Bond's resilience and service and is so intrigued that they meet face to face for the big finale of the 2nd film.

So in that sense Bond 27 can be what NTTD should've been: the big bad is the villain doing Spectre's bidding, but he's just a henchman for the man behind the curtain, who happens to be Blofeld.

    Yes. Consssssiderably.

I hope og they ring back SPECTRE for the next actor they take their time, unlike CraigBond where they really rushed it in two movies. Like you say Bond26 should be completely standalone. Then I think they can slowly bring SPECTRE back in a subtle way, perhaps not re-introducing Blofeld in Bond29 or even Bond30. If they bring back SPECTRE for the next Bond actor at all.

Some believe this is the right time to really shake up the James Bond writing team. While I don't see it as a it's a goal to get an all-female team, I belive these three can do a good job.

    - Phobe Waller-Bridge. Her last job include the celebrated Cuba sequence in NTTD.

-Krysty Wilson-Cairns. Best known for Mendes' 1917. Seems to have a good eye for structure and suspence.

    - Jane Goldman. The Kingsman movies, Kick-ass, Stardust etc. Likes the fun and fantastic in movies. If she reigns in the gross-out humor her stories are almost Roger Moore-ish.

    I wish for:

    1. No new origin story (give subtle origin details as we go along with the new tenure and get straight into the mission).

    2. M as a respected and beloved father figure again, not the angry American police captain.

    3. More spy stuff, like scuba reconnaissance, base infiltration, planting bugs and trackers, switching mcguffins, fooling henchmen, capture and withstanding torture, disabling security measures and escaping capture, using sniper rifles and setting-up sabotage and booby traps.

    4. Themes of freedom vs. tyranny, capitalism vs. communism, and the individual vs. the collective.

    5. Brenton Thwaites as Bond.

I’d love to see back to basics Bond.

I kind of want a typical mission with Bond in his prime. We need to see him get chewed out by M, a gadget scene with Q, flirting with moneypenny, poking the villain over an extravagant dinner, a couple of Bond girls sprinkled in for good measure. I would also love to see Bond more at leisure. Perhaps at his home, training for his mission, working on his fitness, picking out his outfit etc. It has to end with a gloriously stunt filled raid of a villains lair whereby Bond saves the world!

Later...a scene with Valentin Zukovsky (you can never have too much Zukovsky)

A pilot flying a small propeller plane through tunnels! This is the kind of stunt I want to see in Bond movies:

A lot of megayachts are getting confiscated (oligarchs love them!). If EON hurries up they could use one or two in Bond26 on the cheap!

Here's the most recently confiscated one:

a new bond would have to be current with world affairs, and should be up on new tech, social media manipulation to amplify a particular viewpoint , to use as an example.

it has to be forward looking, otherwise its simply outdated.
