The sad thing is that in any part of the world all sorts of
Different people can get along, all it takes is a small percentage
Of " nut Jobs" to kick things off, and suddenly those people are
Living in hell. :# and all because they have a different opinion
On whatever Holy book, they profess to believe in.
Listening to talk shows( especially, over here) and the Religious
Nutters get on to rant against, gay people etc. I'm so happy to be
An atheist. I'll never strap explosives to myself ( or others), I believe
In equality for everyone, ( not just people like me) and I'll never kill
Anyone because their book of fairy tales is different from my book
    Of fairy tales.
Sometimes I'm so proud of the human race, it's capable of so many
Fantastic things, people who run Towards an explosion to help others.
Sadly on the other hand the hatred that some have for others, leading to
Terrible atrocities, as we've seen , and it can all be justified as doing " Gods"
    Will.
I frankly can't understand any religion or way of life that would want to keep
Half it's population ( I.e. women and girls) uneducated and subservient ?
I have two daughters who have far surpassed anything I did in school
( I'm a bit thick) and will of on to higher education ( One has been accepted
To Queens University Belfast ) to become Teachers, or what ever they want.
Even more sad is that even now someone some where is planning something
Just as, if not more horrific. :#

    ok it's small in comparison with global events, but today's rant;

    christmas. ****. shopping.

or rather, to be more pacific as the late great jane goody would say, people's lack of spacial awareness while undertaking said festive commercialism.

    today at din dins i found that people will;

    stand talking in doorways.

stop without warning as you walk behind them on the high street.

cross the road to join your side of the street, only to get to your side at the exact same bit of pavement you just did.

pick up several items in the shop and then wait until being served to discuss with each other which ones to actually buy.

walk with their heads down, concentrating hard at their phones while they proceed to bump into me, who has stopped with folded arms and stern look upon the chevy.

get to the till and then decide to take or make a phone call, and then discuss which of the several items they've collected, to buy, taking great care and time to describe in great detail each and every item in their arms.

decide that the best way forward is to pile into the lift before letting me get out the damn thing.

or as an alternative to the lift, take the stairs, and walk side by side with mother-in-law, arms stretched out under the load of half a dozen shopping bags in each hand, completely blocking the stairs like rolling roadblock of shopping-crazed vogons.

if this is how they walk, imagine how they drive!

I'm sure someone - probably even me! - ranted about this before but I can be bothered to use the search function to find out, and as I had another dose of it today, I'm going to raise it again...

    People who text and walk!

Now, police forces all over the world are rightly cracking down on using your phone while driving thanks to people who do everything from texting to watching entire films while steering a large vehicle, but how about people who are incapable of talking and walking at the same time? They should give tickets out to those who slowly stroll down the middle of the pavement - or stop dead in the centre - so that they can update Facebook. How many times have pedestrians cut me off and then stopped. Or just stopped directly in front of me so that I virtually climb up their back? Let's outlaw it and hire pedestrian police to monitor it. I'm sure they'd make more than enough to not only pay their wages, but to make a handsome profit. One violation and you lose your smartphone for a week. Two violations and it's a month. Three violations and they take away your smartphone license forever and give you a black bakelite phone with a cord and a dial!

Just don't stop and bang into them, then apologize like this:
"I'm very sorry, I was texting and didn't see you stop in front of me- I shouldn't text and walk I suppose."

That actually did happen once - purely by accident (although I wasn't texting! - and the person dropped their phone. I just shrugged at them and they didn't say a word.

"Higgins was born probably between 1904-1920...he is the second son of the Duke of Perth and Baron of Perth in his own right, though the rarely uses the title. He went to school at Eton College and Sandhurst Military College, but was sent down from the latter. He volunteered for the army, but declined to take an officer's commission. He served for 37 years in the British military in the Second World War, the Indochina War (assisting the French), New Guinea, India, and Kenya, among others. Higgins carried the discipline of his military background into his civilian life. Higgins earned the rank of sergeant major in the British Army. It is occasionally hinted that he either had contacts with, or was a former member of the British Secret Service. Higgins holds a 1947 doctorate in mathematics from Cambridge University."

It doesn't mention watches, day-glo trainers or stolen, but afternoon tea seems about right!

BTW, until last year, I had no idea how scones would look and taste like but wondered for around 25 years about that ;)

You need to put fresh cream and jam (in that order) on them. They're good to go then.
