Famous Comedy double act from the 60s and 70s " Mike and Bernie Winters" :)

Did anyone actually like Mike and Bernie Winters? They were very poor in my opinion - a very pale shadow of Eric and Ernie.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

I'd never speak ill of the departed, but I agree they weren't in the
top tier of comedians. On Eric and Ernie..... I think Ant and Dec have
    studied them closely. ;)

TP, there are many comedy greats and I wonder if I might ask you to choose a more aesthetically pleasing one. Peter Sellers from his Casino Royale period, perhaps?

Actually, Les looks a bit like Dougal from the Magic Roundabout in that pic!

You mean that's Les Dawson in TP's photo? I thought it was TP. Gutted. Absolutely gutted. Talk about false advertising. TP, I'd be grateful if you could return all the flowers and chocolates I have been sending to you.

I know many here love the Old detective novels, so just to let anyone interested know that
BBC radio 4 extra is broadcasting at 06:00 and 16:00 The Big Sleep with Toby Stevens and
Sir Patrick Stewart. I'd sure it will also be on the radio player to be listened to or downloaded
    Later.

That was a great series- Stephens made a surprisingly good Marlowe (better than his Bond, IMHO) and as with all these productions was accompanied by a stellar cast (Stewart in this one, as you say). It was a good touch to include "Poodle Springs", the unfinished last Chandler novel, but the one I was most happy to hear was "Playback" since (to my knowledge) it has never otherwise been adapted for film, TV, or radio.

Anyone any experience with these new " wet or dry" electric shavers ? As I've got rid of
My beard, but after cutting the face of myself wet shaving. I went back to using my old
    Philishave .
Now I'm not crazy about dry shaving, as I think the traditional wet shave is far superior,
So was wondering if anyone has used the new "wet" system for shaving with an electric
    Shaver ?
I've done a little research and the Braun series 3 wet and dry seems to suit my budget,
But I'd love to know if they were any better than the conventional electric shavers.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've got a 'wet or dry' electric shaver - it's a Phillips Arcitec, cost nearly £200 ! It just takes up cupboard space as I very rarely use it...but then all electric shavers just don't do the job for me...

I had a very brief flirtation with a braun wet and dry, it was one with three heads, it just didn't cut it for me (no pun intended) I have quite strong stubble and on my neck the grain goes in all different directions, after trying everything I use a combination of cut throat and a safety razor, using a badger brush and my favoured shave soap. It works for me and leaves a decent Finish with minor irritation. The wet and dry electric like all electric shavers caused irritation on my neck and by lunchtime I was stubbling up again.

    Thanks guys -{
I do agree the traditional wet shave is best., But I can shave no problem for nine times out of Ten then
The bathroom turns in to an abattoir :)) blood everywhere ! So I've decided to go with the electric shaver,
and was wondering if any of the new ones were far better than my old one, as if not. I'll stick with my old
    Dependable Philishave. ;)

I think it depends on the person, some people men swear by an electric razor, I would hazard a guess a new one would be better even if just because the heads will be new.

I am solely using my old Philishave (DAD Edition).

It still shaves ok and the remaining stubbles, I am shaving off with a Gillette blade.

It's very important to rinse the blades with hot water after shaving and even before!
Kills bacteria that add up when only cleaning with a dry brush - so no surprise when rashes occur because of that.

I guess that that's (hot water) a part of the success with shaving knifes, which not too often cause rashes.

Just make sure that the blades of your old Philishave can be exposed to water, TP

And Philishave blades must be replaced every 1/2 year(s)
