    Hey guys,

Sorry to bother, but I could use some sizing advice as I really want this awesome JB peacoat, and won't be able to return it I get the wrong size due to taxes.

    My measurements are:

    Height: 6'2"
    Shoulder to neck: ~7,3"
    Shoulder across: ~19,6"
    Chest: ~40"
    Waist: ~34"

Usually wear a medium on everything, except very slim fitting brands such as All Saints, Diesel or Armani Collezioni, where I size up to a large in jackets, but am often still a medium on coats for a fitted look.

    On suits, I'm usually a 40L, sometimes 42L.

So, basically, athletic and slim with broad shoulders. I want a fitted look, but obviously without being too tight and still being able to wear regular thickness sweater underneath with a shirt.

There are a lot of people with about 40" chest and 35" waist getting a medium and being very pleased with it, so I'm tempted to get an M, but none of these guys were as tall as me (usually 2-3" shorter)

I'm particularly worried about the shoulder length: my shoulder length for peacoats is somewhere between 18,5" and 19", while on the chest 20,5-21" is just about ideal, and people posted measurements of the medium saying it's only 18" in the shoulders, tough the chest would be fine at 21".

On the other hand, I think the large would be the opposite with a too big chest and waist and perfect shoulders.

Sleeve length I can probably alter with a tailor either way, but I'm tempted to get a large if only because shortening the waist and chest is a lot easier than widening the shoulders.

So, should I go with the large or a medium?

Yes, my jacket is unlined but the tag says otherwise. I will take a picture tonight.

This is not the BR tag, is the small instruction tag.

If you don't mind, what does your tag say?

because of your height and well as your shoulder measurement, you probably want to go with a large.

You'll probably be best with a large. If you're like me, you'll have to make a few adjustments to both a M and a L.

Thanks guys, large it is then! I feel safer with it anyway, as, like I said, it's way easier to get a tailor to shorten things than make them longer.

Here is a picture of the care instruction tag.
Confirmed with BR rep that the tag was wrong

Wonder if this is good towards a certain coat....

I just tried it. It doesn't work on the coat. I already have one, but it would have been nice. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi All,

First post here, I am interested in this coat and you guys seem to be my best hope for answers to some sizing questions!

    I am:

    5'10
Chest: 41" with the tape measure tight to my chest (breathing in moves it to 42")
    Shoulders: 18.5"
    Waist: 36"

I m really not sure if I should opt for a large or a medium. As I need to have it shipped over to the UK I am loathe to make a mistake.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

toyorose I'd go with the large. I'm 6' with 41/42" chest and 36 waist and the large is still trim. The medium would be quite tight. I don't know how DC fit into a medium, even if only for "hero" shots.

Hey guys, I have a question for my european brethren. Especially for anyone who happens to be german or dutch. Anyone who happens to know how much extra the coat will cost when bringing it over to the Netherlands?

When you order from the BR site, the extra 20% VAT is charged automatically (around $900) included shipping to the Netherlands.

So you dont have to pay for customs (another 14% or so over the total amount).

    Regards

Any of you guys ever struggle with the front inside left button? It's rather difficult to undo for me at least.

When you reach inside the jacket to undo the button, pull the edge of the right side of the jacket to the left slightly. This moves the button to the centre of the buttonhole and should make it easier to undo. If not the button is seated on the edge of the buttonhole and harder to undo.

If anyone wants to pick up a Billy Reid peacoat the code "VALET20" is good for 20% off and it works on the coat, just bought mine. The code was advertised on retailmenot for 20 dollars off but when I used it it was a pleasant surprise to see 20% off. Not sure if it's a glitch or not, but it's a great deal.

Still confused to choosing BR Bond coat size between small and medium.

Is there anybody compare with Nigel Cabourn Mallory Jacket?
My perfect fit Mallory jacket is sz. 48.

    I'm 5-9 , 41 chest, 31 waist with 75Kg. Most of my jacket shoulder is 17.5 in.

I wear Barbour Commander Medium with arm trimming (it's strange wider arm hole so I trimmed 1 inch) so I can wear with everything snug like DC.

On BR web, Small chest size is only 38in. But last part size is great for me.

Medium..hmmmm many people choose medium on AJB, but someone is 6 fit tall, and someone is under 40 chest..
And I found many people wear larger size than there body.

Even Mantis.. when I watched his video in UK, I thought.. "If armhole and shoulder were trimmed little bit, he looks more perfect."
If I saw Mantis wear Small, My confusing was gone last month. Cause, I think, Mantis has bigger bulk than me.

I did try on a small, but it just didn't move right when worn...and it didn't slim down the shoulder and armhole much...also, if you do get a medium you could always give it a nip and tuck....

Oh, I did not tend to blame your fit, Mantis. I always thank you for bond information, so I am sorry for very little roomier fit. If you feel like bad, I need to say sorry for that.
As Mantis mentioned, I'll order medium consequentially if I cannot found pix of small fitting guy has my body size.
LVC Menlo was easy, My only choise was small and I could wear in LVC local too.
But There is only one way to buy BR coat .. It is ordering on web with gambling choice . and.. need to pay import duty and tax..

No no...dont feel bad at all...I am pretty passionate about people getting the perfect fit and being happy about a purchase this significant, whatever the brand....that was the intent of my reply... :)

It says they are back ordered. Are they shipping you one or do you have to wait? Also what country are you in? The code works but I'd have to pay $220 ish in taxes to Canada. I may ship to a friend in the states first.

They are Backordered, but are suppose to ship by Wednesday, so that's cool. I'm in Alaska, not sales tax where I'm at. I just got a Cyber Monday email from Billy Reid 20% off code good right now, not sure if it'll work on the pea coat though: CYBER20

I've had so many compliments of mine, from men ("Where did you get that?") and women. It looks very smart and can easily be dressed-up or dressed-down and look equally good. It's also remarkably warm.

Has anyone who ordered after 2nd Oct had their coat ship yet? The website states that all orders would be shipped on 6th Dec but mine is still at the warehouse (ordered 24th Oct)....
  • TheundeadkennedyTheundeadkennedy Posts: 292MI6 Agent
I haven't had news of mine shipping either. Originally it said orders would ship out the 4th of Dec, it changed to the 6th sometime in the last week. Wackness.
