Feel free to use my pics for any purposes regarding frugal Bond options. And, you don't need to blank out my face.

Excellent, thanks! I will send a copy over to you first so you can check it out before I publish it.

Have sent for this taupe linen blazer as a 'frugal' BC Morocco blazer. Hoping that in the daylight it will look a closer match colour wise. I'm aware of the SA issues - it's 2 button (not 3) and linen (not silk/linen mix) and has straight (not slanted pockets) but let's wait and see!
For the price and free postage (in Europe) it seems OK.

Making my own treats for the Bond girls at home. Melted Cadburys and strawberries. The chocolate started to cool and go into a paste faster than I thought. Grabbed the Ice cube mould quick and loaded it up.

30 mins in the fridge and Voila! Budget Bond chocolates! :)) :x

Inspiration comes in a crisis. :))

Decent BC blazer option.. color is just a bit too tan though as opposed to lighter brown.. so close... is also a 3 roll 2 button style.. And J Crew is decent quality to boot

James Brosnan, I will get working on the article for the Matchless alternative soon.

Llafyks, I've added your option to the list, with credit given.

    ExpatJB: Now I'm hungry ... thanks :D

chriscollins007: Glad you found some! Could I use one of your pics in the article? Real world example and all that ...

MFisher: I replied to your comment on the post.

Took a shot at my first editorial; something I've been working on for a while now. Look forward to hearing people's feedback. Some thoughts on dressing like Bond: http://www.iconicalternatives.com/2016/02/15/how-to-dress-like-james-bond/

This suede jacket is very similar to the John Varvatos.

    http://www.zara.com/us/en/new-in/navy-split-suede-jacket-c363021p2880560.html

It shows to be sold out in every size, but keep an eye on it...I did and after about a week of patiently waiting Mediums were in stock, I quickly purchased and have received it since. (I can get photos to show it in a different light) Most everyone who has seen it thinks it is black, it's a very nice, very deep shade of navy blue.

TeenageBond: I added your Zara suggestion to the post with credit to you.

New article up, first in a series I'm trying to write: Building a Bond Wardrobe: http://www.iconicalternatives.com/2016/02/17/building-a-bond-wardrobe-shirts-and-sweaters/

I started with shirts and sweaters, will do other posts on pants and belts, jackets and footwear, and extras. I'm trying to use a different perspective than other "Steal the Style" type articles.

Also added some new options for the Riviera Polo (alternatives were getting a little thin): http://www.iconicalternatives.com/2015/12/02/sunspel-riviera-polo-casino-royale/

But I also found the real Sunspel Polo over at Matches Fashion for $101.00 with all sizes; that's about $40 to $50 under what I've seen it go for at other retailers.

    Fantastic articles Canoe2. I really like where you are taking this. I notice that all of your stuff is based on DC Bond. I would love to work with you on expanding to other Bond casual wear as I have been putting together updated versions of all the Bond casual outfits over the past 2 years. I regularly wear Boznan, Connery, Moore, and Dalton inspired outfits (haven't gotten to Lazenby yet, but he has good stuff too). There are some fantastic casual outfits from the old Bond movies. I'm actually wearing today an updated version of what Dalton wears in the bar fight scene in LTK, I just replaced his shirt jacket with my Ben Sherman harrington. I might be a little more crazy about wearing SA Bond cloths than others (as we all do this for different reasons and get different things out of this innately crazy hobbie), but if my craziness can help out with what you got going here, I'd be delighted to help. I've been wanting to do what your doing for the longest, but time is short for me right now, so I would love to help out and piggyback a feeling of accomplishment off of your hard work :)) Obviously, you could just look at Matt S's blog to see all the casual outfits, but I can definitely help you narrow your search. -{

    Hi
Deifinitely, it would great to work on something together!

Yeah, I started with Craig, but I'm trying to use these Bond wardrobe articles to explore some styles from the older movies. I'll PM you later so we can discuss some ideas.

    Thanks!

Look good! Those are going on the list for sure.

By the way, Banana Republic is having a 30% off sale now on pants, so the Kentfields James Brosnan suggested are down to $55.50. I know they didn't turn out to be the exact match for the BCs, but just in case people want something a little lighter in color.

Fantastic article man! Loving the nods to the old bonds too. Couldn't agree with you more about the tan chinos going a long way for stretching a budget. As you pointed out, you do have to sacrifice color, but the budget look still remains good. Been using the BR pants for the TB putfit with the black polo. He doesn't wear shoes in that outfit, and I have found that my pair of dark brown boat shoes look really fresh and modern with it. Keep up the good work man.

    James Brosnan: I PM'd you

The iconic alternatives site is definitely about Bond's clothes, but I'm also really interested in architecture and design. Until I get around to posting about Bond's living space, I created a board on Pinterest. It's kind of a mix of Ken Adams concept art and set design, shots of interiors from the films and some "design porn"for our inspiration (items that are not specifically Bond related, but stuff he might own based on the films). Just in case anyone is interested!

Any thought about adding watches to the site? Not everyone can afford an Omega or Rolex so I think it would be brilliant if we can come up with budget versions.

My first addition would be the Seiko SNXS77 as a budget version for the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra from Skyfall. Many available for under $100 on ebay it is a perfect budget option.

    Thoughts?

Continuing from my post #292. I've received the chinos from Germany 3days to UK. Anyway these are a good product. Soft feel slightly brushed texture, slim fit and true to size. Most importantly the colour is spot on to some scenes. I would say the exact colour is most like this one
    IMG_20160222_185841.jpg
    And to compare

    IMG_20160218_215940.jpg
All in all I'm very pleased and these are a bargain.

    Thanks for that!

A few pages back I asked if any of the watch experts here would want to help write a post about affordable alternative watches, but no one seemed interested. But some folks were kind enough to share their suggestions. So, yes, I would like to put together a list of alternative watches; I plan to start buy including a couple of suggestions in the upcoming "Extras" Bond Wardrobe post. Then I'll work on a dedicated article.

    All the best!
