Guys, I found this "Enjoying Death" shirt at Marshall's for around $20. There were a bunch of them floating around. I'm looking at getting the red stuff removed by a tailor. Not bad.

Fantastic find! What's the brand name? Maybe we can find it still available online.

That is a really nice shirt. Too bad you can't buy from Marshalls online.

That's certainly the best budget version weve seen here ,I see by the price tag that they are U.S based .
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

    Damn! That's a good looking alternative. :007)
Shame it's only in the US .

    Great find! -{

My local Marshall's has nothing from that brand. :#

If you could post a picture of the Marshall's price tag, it may give a store SKU or model number. It may help when calling stores for availability.

Are you in New York City? I would love to get a large but am upstate in Saratoga NY. Did you notice if there were more large sizes?
I checked the local Marshalls here and couldn't find one.

This was a few weeks back at a NYC store. Sorry, don't have the tag anymore! I did spot one at another NYC location as well. Like all things at Marshalls, you have to get your hands dirty and do some digging. Interested to hear what people find at other locations around the US. Good Luck!

Thank for keeping an eye out for the shirt, drum007. I've been envious of the clothing finds some styleforum members have gotten from the NYC Marshall's. Would the size large you bought work for a size 42 chest?
  • drum007drum007 New York, NYPosts: 684MI6 Agent
Yes, I'm a size 42 and wear a large. The medium was too snug.

I also recommend trying TJ Maxx stores, as they are also owned by TJX and tend to have much of the same stuff during, before, or after.

Slick deal alert: get a gift certificate from giftcardgranny for a 15-20% discount and use that!
    Yes. Consssssiderably.

Really enjoyed your post buddy , very well put together and loved those extra details.
some sound advice there and it appeals to everyone.

Gone through the BC alternative jackets choices for the UK market on your site but no joy.

Have you found some others as you did a sterling job on the BC chinos from esprit.
    cheers pal

    Hi all
Next post is up: Bond Wardrobe: Extras and Details: http://www.iconicalternatives.com/2016/02/29/building-bond-wardrobe-extras-details/

Look forward to hearing feedback; I tried to work with some different ideas with this one.

Quick note: a lot of people suggested the Seiko 5 as a watch alternative, but I wasn't able to include everyone's name in the post. Since Tennyson started a thread about that specific topic, I referred people to it. Hope that works!

Chriscoop: I checked out those boots and your comment on the site. I added the link for you. Thanks again!

    All the best!

    Hi
Been off the radar for the last week or so doing some other stuff. Right now I am going through most of the older posts and updating them as new options become available with the different brands' releases of their spring stock. The BC blazer is definitely high on the priority list! Also have some alternatives for new items coming up and I still need to get James Brosnan's post published. So there should be a lot that's new over the next two weeks.

    drum007: that's a great find! Congrats!

By the way, one of the things I mentioned in that last post was using a cotton peacoat for the Skyfall look if you live somewhere warm. Mango's version is currently on sale $50.00: http://shop.mango.com/US/p0/men/sale/cotton-blend-trench-coat/?id=53060038_56&n=1&s=rebajas_t5_he&ident=0_color13_0_1457377103023&ts=1457377103023&p=11&page=1

Trying to put together the Casino Royale Miami Airport outfit, currently. Managed to pick up this jacket recently:

The model here has a size too large for this jacket. You could size down for the fitted look and you'd be set. I usually wear a Medium, and I actually ended up with the Medium as the small pulled just a LITTLE too much in the shoulders when I twisted for my liking. And it's Levi's, so it has a 007 history for the brand!

Can't for the life of me figure out the pants, though...

I went around to various stores yesterday, in search of budget Morroco pants. That color is really difficult to find in a slim fit! Most of the chinos out right now are too light and in a "classic" fit. I agree that the banana republic ones are probably the closest, after seeing them in person.

I can't recommend the BR Pants enough. They have a nice medium rise too. They are also a pretty darn good alternative to the Ted Baker Linen CR pants. The taupe is not spot on, but it's close enough for me. I'm gonna grab a Uniqlo linen long sleeve shirt with left breast pocket in black, get the tailor to get the details corrected, and I'm going with that to complete my CR outfit. I know the original Alfani wasn't linen, but linen just makes more sense and I really like the look for summer nights out to diner or something.

I agree! Linen makes way more sense with the humidity of the Bahamas. Great idea.

Anyone (especially those in the UK) found anything similar to the Billy Reid peacoat? I'm finding it really difficult to find one that has the same 'trim' silhouette the original. Most that I've seen are far too roomy or nearly shapeless, seems as though most of them have been designed to wear over suits.

I came across this one from Vendoneire: http://www.vedoneire.com/mens-wool-pea-coat-3083-wine-navy/

    277_std_1442832232.jpg

About $220.00 but you get 15% off if you sign up for their emails. Just note that it's only 50% wool, with no mention of what the other materials are. May be a little long for a true bond look, but it has the flap pockets and the hand warmer pockets, which not something I've seen a lot. Ships out of Ireland, and in my experience they offer amazing customer service.

Seems like a nice option, I have owned many pea coats over the years and recently gave this a go:

    http://www.superdry.com/mens/jackets/details/48584/premium-pea-coat

I know, I know! most of their stuff is plastered in logos and silly details, this one however is not; there is some branding under the collar which is removable, the wool is really nice and the fit trim (particularly the arms).

Obviosuly we're ignoring the lack of peak lapels, patch pockets and other features, but as a trim fitting, quality (71% wool) budget pea coat, I'm happy!

In other news, M and S are at it again:

    Solden alternate:

    http://www.marksandspencer.com/cotton-rich-tailored-fit-padded-quilted-front-midweight-sweatshirt/p/p22453426?prevPage=plp

Now tell me that isn't directly inspired by Bond!

They also have loads of chino options in various fits and the previously mentioned linen / blend odd jackets. For some reason they've never made a decent fitting polo / sky polo.

    Hope these are of interest -{

    Thanks!
When I was looking for peacoat alternatives for Bond wardrobe articles, I found absolutely nothing with peak lapels. Admittedly, I didn't spend days looking, but my gut feeling is that they're pretty rare. Even finding coats with the flap pockets and the hand warmer pockets wasn't easy. Schott does one, but they are down to size 2XL and up, so I didn't include it. My conclusion was: on a budget, you can go for the fit or you can go for the details, but if you want both just save up for the BR.

Re: the M&S Jacket: No, nope, not seeing the connection .... :)) Seriously, it's been interesting to track the "trickle down" of that design from Moncler and/or super.natural to the high end TF version and then rapidly on down to the big box brands and knockoffs.

As I'm updating the posts, I need to take a closer look at what M&S are offering now.

    Thanks!
