@Number24, I speak all four and more.

I was born in the German part of Switzerland, in Basel. Not related to Mr. Mendel, although I wouldn't mind, he's such a nice chap :))

My best friend (army-bro) is Romansh, I speak it with him.

But German is your first language? Is Romansh very different from Italian? I read it's the modern language closest to ancient Latin.

I was brought up to German and English as I used to live in Bournemouth UK for the greater part of my childhood/teen years.

I guess you could say German is my first language but then it's probably more correct to say I'm bilingual in German and English.

Romansh is indeed what you could consider closest to Latin. I consider it different from Italian but there are the obvious similarities. Especially from the Lombard dialect (North Italy). Lombard dialect is actually spoken in parts of Switzerland. It's complicated :007)

Yes, it sounds complicated. In Norway it's much simpler: Most of us speak some Norwegian dialect. Almost all dialects are partially understandable to other Norwegians. There are only two written forms of Norwegian. No, wait ...... possibly three. Then there is the Sami minority in the north. There are three diiiferent Sami languages: South Sami, Lule Sami and North Sami. Norwegian speakers don't learn Sami at school, but the Sami learn both one form of Sami and Norwegian at school. So it's very straight forward :D

I'm actually tempted to learn another language, would be my 8th.

Swedish is on my list definitely, but lately indeed, I am thinking about Norwegian.

Since you already speak Geman fairly well you have an advantage in both languages, since they are related. I think the intonation is harder if you're trying to learn Swedish. I would learn Nynorsk ("New Norwegian", the oldest of the written forms of Norwegian) for several reasons:
    - It's a minority of an already small language group, making you more distinguished.
    - It doesn't have the sing-song quality of Sweden and the majority of Norwegian, but has an intonation closer to English. I sense you know some English :v
    - I'm a Nynorsk user, and therefore completely objective in these matters.

I speak Norwegian. I also understand Swedish and (at least written) Danish. (Get a Norwegian from the Oslo very, very drunk and he will speak something like Danish). I refuse to speak Swedish and Danish. I speak English, but how well I do it has been the topic of some very heated debates right here in AJB. I also speak German and French badly.
  • BondJasonBond006BondJasonBond006 SwitzerlandPosts: 870MI6 Agent
Nynorsk is noted. I'll decide before Christmas which language it will be.

I have started a six week training to build up muscle mass, mainly biceps, triceps, shoulders, chest. Started yesterday with Chest/Biceps, today it was Triceps/Shoulders, always doing abs as well. 3rd day will be a break and I'll walk 5 miles.

Also changed my diet plan accordingly. Not radically but sure a lot of proteins, carbs when needed and as less sugar and fat as possible. A little of all is needed of course.

I was looking if there is any Workout thread on AJB but only could find Bond related threads. Not sure if any of you are into pushing weights.

I'm doing all my training with free weights and my own body weight. I am 42, will be 43 in September. While I think I can consider myself fitter than the usual 42 year old I still feel I need to put some effort in it now, around the belly I gain fat quiet easily now, something that I never experienced until I got to 39/40.

I don't mind a little fat over my abs, I did have the visible six-pack abs back this Spring due to grueling physical exercise due to my job. But now they are not visible anymore, under a nice layer of fat they sleep :))

Anyway, my goal is to stay fit and of course I love if I still look impressive enough for my age.

It is a matter of discipline mostly. My weak point is the evening. I love watching Bond films or other classic content and I am too accustomed to eat while I watch it. I am mentally strong enough to do it and not eat after 18:00 hours but it's quite difficult, especially now that I've just begun.

I push weights and have a regular regime. I also adopt a healthy eating discipline. I generally work out each morning, I'm time poor so struggle to work out after work. I mix up calesthetics into my regime as well. I'm also 42.

I eat lots of chocolate too, but i offset that with not eating as much during the day. I live by the rule that a little of what you like does you good. Also if I'm eating healthy all week I deserve a treat.

@bondjasonbond have you tried eating pickled foods during movies at night? When I want to graze but know I should not I have a few pieces of pickled okra. They are crunchy and salty so it is *almost* as good as chips.

I want to brag on my dog for a minute. I have been sick for several days (boo!) and Scuppers has not left my side for a minute. He even watches me while he eats. Love :x

The current state of things in Venezuela shows us that oil isn't a guarantee for prosperity and order. According to the World Bank the country has the world's largest oil reserves, yet their economy is in ruins and they are on the brink of civil war. "God gave us maize, but the Devil gave us oil".

Ah yes Venezuela. The great social experiment gone wrong, It was one Jeremy Corbyn who once hailed Venezuela as a shining example of socialism working. I'd like to hear him say that to the people in queues for basic medical supplies and food.

Non of us have everything after all we are all mere mortals. Statham is an inspiration as is Hugh Jackman along with our own DC for the older gent getting into shape. Though we must remember that these are guys who can spend hours in the gym have a dietitian and a personally worked out regime, and what we see on screen isn't reality, Jackman went into detail on Graham Norton describing what he does before a shirt off scene as Wolverine, he confessed it's very dangerous and not at all recommended. Both Christian Bale and Tom Hardy complain of physical problems they now have as a result of building up for roles. The results they get are incredible but unhealthy long term and unrealistic for normal working guys.

Yes, it's a very bad example of socialism. Not to bang my own (oil) drum, but we handled it much better in Norway. In Venezuela it's all corruption and authoritarian rule, all kept afloat by subsidiced food and oil. They didn't spend money on repairing their oil instalations (oil rigs, refineries). They even threw out or neglected to pay foreign oil experts, so even the oil sector isn't functional properly. On paper they had every chance of making money, but new they're facing the same economic growth as Syria!

No photoshopping there, even the Stath can let himself have some down time now and then, remarkable that 3 months after that pic was taken he looked like this for filming

It's a bit like Congo (DRC) with its masses of natural resources - including coltan, cobalt, copper and diamonds - it should be a stable country. Instead, it's an absolute mess thanks to a succession of kleptocracies. I am sure Joshua could say a lot more about it than me though.
