Who does he think he is, Sebastian Foucan?

Racing driver Stirling Moss, 80, has fallen down a lift shaft from three floors up. Don't worry, he's 'only' broken two ankles and no internal injuries.

    http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/08032010/58/stirling-moss-falls-lift-shaft.html

I read a great recent interview with him in which he talks about his property investments in London. He owns something like a dozen rental properties but only buys them within a short scooter-ride of his home so that if the dishwasher breaks, he can hop on the scooter and race over to the flat to repair it himself. Imagine that? Your dishwasher breaks and one of the world's greatest-ever motor racing legends turns up to fix it. Somehow, I can't imagine an 80 year-old Michael Schumacher repairing anyone's appliances!

Peter Graves was THE MAN! I never considered him the world's greatest actor, but he made up for it in pure class, charisma, and respectability. He was always one of my favorites, and he'll be missed. RIP

RIP Peter Graves. Not only did he star in one of the coolest TV shows ever...he owns one of the great film comedy lines of all time, IMO.

Peter Graves's commercial encouraging senior citizens to take out a "reverse mortgage" on their homes (I've heard some bad things about these, but nevermind) is still being run. Seems a little eerie now. . .

I just saw it about 30 minutes ago...rather like hearing Billy Mays pitching a stain remover from beyond the grave.

Yes, he did die today--Parker, that is--at the age of 85. When I think of the historical Crockett, I can't help but picture Parker. May he rest in peace.

A couple of notables. . .I read on IMDb that today would have been Steve McQueen's 80th birthday. I have to say I can't imagine him being so old! Also, I just saw that Robert Culp--star of I, Spy in the '60s and The Greatest American Hero in the '80s--has left us at the age of 79. Thanks for the memories. . .

Really sorry to be reading about Robert Culp's passing. He was one of those actors who kept popping up in show after show that I enjoyed from childhood onward. While most people were familiar with him thru I Spy and Greatest American Hero, I remember his memorable performances on Outer Limits in Demon With a Glass Hand and The Architects of Fear (which was the basis for Watchmen) and in a little known but supremely entertaining TV movie about the occult called Spectre. R.I.P. Robert, you'll be remembered and missed.

Indeed, there's an Errol Flynn movie about that I think, but it's not on DVD.

Not in same category, but no mention of Godfather of Punk?

Ex- Aberdeen legend Zoltan Varga passed away at the age of 65. I'm too young to have ever seen him play but he is spoken about by older fans with reverence. Also played for Hertha Berlin, Ajax, Dortmund, so he was pretty handy.

Very sorry to hear of the loss of an actress I've always enjoyed, Lynn Redgrave, at 67. It's been a sad time for the Redgrave family, with Corin dying last month and, of course, Natasha Richardson dying last year.

Singer and actress Lena Horne passed away Sunday at the age of 92. She lived a very fascinating life dealing with movie studio racisim, being black listed in the 50's, and receiving criticism for having a white husband. I am old enough to recall seeing her perform on television and hearing her sing when my parents played her records. An attractive talented lady. RIP

I guess in honour of our member Willie Garvin we should mention the creator of Modesty Blaise, Peter O'Donnell, who died recently.

Maybe my wording was bad. . .Patrick O'Donnell gave us Modesty Blaise and the character Willie Garvin; nothing happened to our AJB friend. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
