Totally. Before I owned this vehicle I'd assumed it was to shorten stopping distance in case the driver was rather inexperienced- now I know stopping distance is sacrificed for steering control (for everyone).
I just wish you could turn ABS (not traction control) off for snow. My Saturn snow-mobiled extremely well.

I had a Suzuki GS 550- 5 years of it (it was my only vehicle). I drove year roung and in all conditions. Never had an accident with another vehicle, but ONCE I went down on black ice. One wheel hits ice- no problem. Both at the same time & it's time to face gravity. :)) Driving through slush & snow was easy peasy though.

Yep, that's it. I pointed out a few times that it is there to allow steering while under braking. For obvious reasons it cannot perform in icy conditions as it does in the dry but that is largely a matter of traction (or lack of it).
Okay, it's snowing where I am now so I took my VW out for some tests. Understanding the new technology better now. I played a good bit, and I guess I have to say I'm somewhat impressed with the traction control. I intentionally tried to lose control in a turn, and it held as well as I could have in a car without it using my innate skills alone. Still, the stopping distance bugs me- I could do better without the computer. It's a trade off I guess... if I were driving drunk it would definitely be a BIG help, but I don't do that. So basically it's extraneous junk for ME.
Old folks and vision-impaired peeps (which I will no doubt eventually become) have to love it.
So, not the evil mess I first thought, but not our saviour on the streets either.
Colour me a mild indignant. :))

With this I have no problem stopping or starting in snow. ( do have to take a load of poo bags though)
Not for the dogs, ........ I find it all a little scary !

I met a friend's younger sister this Christmas ..... and her dog! I found myself hearing the soundtrack of Game of Thrones in my head at the sight of the twentysomething woman with long red hair walking around with a GIGANT Siberian Huskey. It's back was at the height of the dinner table and I worried for the new drone toy one of her brothers got for Christmas. I started talking about the weather, hoping she would say "Winter is coming," :D

It's the same where I work (in retail, for my sins) - too many chiefs not enough Indians (such as myself) to stay and work on tills! X-(

Watch This Morning, yesterday. They had the Horrible story of a Man who
Had acid thrown in his face. It was a case of mistaken identity. The bit that
I couldn't believe was the sentence the attacker got. He was given life ( which I
thought was reasonable as an acid attack is a terrible thing) then they pointed out
That he's only have to serve seven years before parole ? WTF ? Out in seven years :o

Currys IT repairs. Long story shortened. My daughters laptop needed repaired as it didn't t power up. So after a week got laptop back, now it will power up but, it's been
Wiped clean, all info missing and it's gone from windows 10 to windows 8 ? :#
So now a trip back to the store tomorrow to complain. As the missing software was
stuff she needed for university and which we had paid extra for and for Currys to install.

They are good aren't they! I once had a Sony vaio repaired at curry's, it came back with the @ button not functioning, I eventually found it when I pressed for £???? Now that is clever I never found where they'd hidden the pound sign?

:)) I eventually just put gbp after. Bloody ball ache though and curry's weren't exactly brilliant. They had it back twice and couldn't fix it. I did eventually get a compensation discount off a new one though.
